Özet
Ütopya ve distopya eserleri gerek teknik yönleri gerek içerikleriyle sosyal bilimler alanında çeşitli disiplinlerin ilgi alanına girmektedirler. Sosyoloji de doğal olarak bu alanlardan birisidir. Ütopya ve distopya eserlerinin sosyolojik açıdan ele alınabilecek farklı noktaları bulunmakla birlikte, bu alanlardan sosyal kontrol konusunun görece daha az değerlendirilmiş bir alan olması bu konuda, yani ?Ütopya ve Distopyalarda Sosyal Kontrol? konusunda, bir çalışma yapmayı cazip kılmaktadır.Bu çalışmada, ütopya ve distopya eserlerinin yalnızca yazıldıkları dönemlere ilişkin değil aynı zamanda günümüze ve geleceğe dönük önermelerini sosyal kontrol açısından ele almak amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda ütopya ve distopya edebiyatının başlıca eserlerinden seçilen altı eser incelenmiş ve bu eserlerde işletilen sosyal kontrol mekanizmalarının tespit edilmeye, bir yandan da bu uygulamaların gerçekliğe yansımalarına kısmen de olsa değinilmeye çalışılmıştır.Çalışma neticesinde, ütopya ve distopya eserlerinin aile, eğitim, din, tüketim gibi ortak bazı kavramlar/konular/alanlar çerçevesinde çeşitli denetim ve gözetim yöntemleri ortaya koydukları tespit edilmiş ve bu yöntemlerin önemli ölçüde yaşantılarımıza sirayet ettiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu münasebetle sosyal kontrolün sabit uygulama alanları olan alanların ?durağan sosyal kontrol unsurları? olarak adlandırılabilecekleri; buna karşın uygulama alanları aynı kalsa da uygulama yöntemlerinin değişmesinin de sosyal kontrolün dönüşen boyutuna işaret ettiği ve dolayısıyla değişen/dönüşen sosyal kontrol yöntemlerinin de ?hareketli sosyal kontrol unsurları? olarak tanımlanabileceği yönünde bir sonuca varılmıştır. Bununla bağlantılı olarak, incelenen eserlerde ortaya konulan sosyal kontrol yöntemlerinin günümüzdeki biçimlerinin üzerinde önemle durulmasının gerekliliği de bir kez daha vurgulanmıştır.

Utopias and dystopias are of interest to various disciplines in social sciences, not only with their technical aspects, but also with their contents. Sociology is also one of these disciplines. Besides there are different points of utopias and dystopias to be addressed in terms of sociological works, one of these fields, social control is an area of relatively less evaluated and this situation encourages doing a study on this issue, namely on ?Social Control in Utopias and Dystopias?.In this study, it has been aimed to evaluate propositions of utopias and dystopias in the aspect of social control, not only for the periods they were written, but also for present and future. In this context, six novels selected among the major works of utopian and dystopian literatures were examined. It has been tried to determine the social control practices contained in these novels and also it has been (at least partially) tried to mention the reflections of these practices to the reality.As a result of this study, it has been determined that utopian and dystopian novels examined reveal some surveillance methods in the framework of some concepts like family, education, religion, consumption and it has been reached the conclusion that these methods have significantly spread to our everyday lives. On this occasion, it can be said that fixed application areas of social control, such as family, education, religion etc., can be named as ?static elements of social control? and on the other hand, although the application areas remain the same, changing of application methods indicates the transforming dimension(s) of social control, which can be identified as ?dynamic elements of social control?. In this context, it has been once again strongly emphasized that there is a need for analyzing the recent forms of social control methods presented in the works examined.
