Özet
Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, Sosyal Bilgiler dersi `' Bölgemizi Tanıyalım'' ünitesinin Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) ile işlenilmesinin; ilköğretim 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarılarına, tutumlarına ve kullanma becerilerine ilişkin etkisini belirlemektir.Bu araştırma 2011-2012 öğretim yılının 1. döneminde Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'na bağlı Bilecik'te bulunan TOKİ İlköğretim okulunda öğrenim gören iki beşinci sınıfta 6 hafta süreyle yürütülmüştür.Çalışma grubunu, 5/A ve 5/B sınıflarında öğrenim gören 49 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. 5/B şubesi deney, 5/A şubesi kontrol grubu olarak seçilmiştir.Araştırmada ön-son test kontrol gruplu deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Deney grubuna CBS destekli, kontrol grubuna ise geleneksel öğretim yöntemi kullanılarak araştırmacı tarafından yürütülmüştür.Araştırma sürecinde; araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen `'Bölgemizi Tanıyalım'' ünitesi Başarı Testi, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri Tutum Ölçeği ve Kontrol Listesi veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır.Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin analizi ilişkisiz t-testi, ilişkili t-testi, Cohen d, frekans ve ortalama kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.Sonuç olarak, CBS tabanlı haritaların `'Bölgemizi Tanıyalım'' ünitesinin öğretiminde başarıyı yükselten bir etkiye sahip olduğu ve öğrencilerin CBS teknolojisine yönelik olumlu bir tutum içerisinde oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The main reason of this study is to identify the effect of teaching the unit of the Social Studies lesson ?Finding Out Our Region? with ?the Geographic Information Systems? (GIS) through academically success, approach and skills in the 5th grade-student-level.This study was held in two different 5th grade classes of TOKI Primary School related to National Education Ministry in Bilecik for 6 weeks in the first term of 2011-2012 education-years.The study groups were 49 students educating in 5/A and 5/B classes. 5/B class was chosen as experiment group and 5/A class was chosen as control group.In the survey the experimental design with pre-post test grouped was used. The researcher implemented GIS supported technique to the experimental group and traditional technique to the control group.During the research, the Success Test developed by the researcher for the ?Finding out Our Region? was used as the attitude scale of the Geographic Information Systems and the collecting datum of Control List.The analyses of the datum were assessed with the unrelated t-test, the related t-test, Cohen d, frequency and average methods.As the conclusion of this research it is seen that the GIS based maps have the success-decreasing effect of the teaching of the ?Finding out Our Region? unit and the students have the positive approach to the GIS technology.
