Özet
Çağdaş filozoflardan Ernst Cassirer'in kültür felsefesini temellendirme çabalarının ele alındığı bu tezde, felsefe tarihi bağlamında, kültürün kavramsal ve tarihsel bir incelemesi yapılmaktadır. Yöntem olarak tezde felsefenin genel ilkeleri çerçevesinde hareket edilmiş ve felsefe tarihine bir bütünlük içinde yaklaşılmıştır. Özellikle kültür felsefesi alanına katkı yapan filozof ve akademisyenlerin eserleri büyük bir titizlikle incelenmiştir ve Cassirer'in genelde felsefeye yaptığı katkıya, özellikle de ilgi alanı olan kültür felsefesine vurgu yapılmıştır.Yeni Kantçı geleneğe mensup olan Cassirer'in eserlerinde ılımlı bir idealizm göze çarpar. O, felsefe tarihini derin analizler yoluyla incelerken belli bir amaca; insana ve oluşturduğu kültür alanına vurgu yaparak bir senteze ulaşmak ister. Bunu yaparken de kültüre eleştirel bir yaklaşımı esas alır. Cassirer, İnsan Üstüne Bir Deneme adlı eserinde insanın neliğini ortaya koyduktan sonra efsane, din, dil, sanat, tarih ve bilim üzerinden kültürü temellendirme çabasına girişir. Neticede Cassirer, zengin bir felsefe tarihi içeriğiyle kültür felsefesini inşa eder.Felsefe tarihi, sistematik bir şekilde kendini güncellerken, kendine yeni alanlar da açmaktadır. Kültür felsefesi de bu yeni alanlardan birisidir. Bu tez çalışması da bu alana bir katkı sağlamak için yapılmıştır.

This study consists of the endeavours of grounding culture philosophy of Ernst Cassirer who is one of contemporary philosophers. It also examines the culture in terms of its history and its concept in context of the history of philosophy. While making this study, it has been acted in accordance with general principals of philosophy and the history of philosophy has been aproached as a whole. The achievement of philosophers and academics, who has contributed in especially culture philosophy, were examined meticulously. It has inherently put an emphasis on Ernst Cassirer?s contributions in philosophy and on culture philosophy as one of his interets.A moderate idealism is greeted in the works of Cassirer, who is a New Kantianist. While examining the history of philosophy by means of deep analysis, he wants to reach a certain aim; a synthesis by emphasizing human and the field of the culture they formed. While realizing it, he approaches the culture critically. After Cassirer expresses the essence of man is in his book ?An Essay on Man?, he engages in grounding the culture in myth, language, religion, art, history and science. Consequently, Cassirer founds culture philosophy with a rich content of history of philosophy.While history of philosophy updates itself systematically, it also reveals new fields for itself. Culture philosophy is one of these fields. This study is also conducted in order to contribute in this field.
