Özet
İstanbul (Erkek) Lisesi'nin Bulunduğu Alanın Koruma Bağlamında İrdelenmesi ve Yapının Altındaki Sarnıcın Restorasyonu? isimli tez kapsamında; İstanbul Lisesi'nin bulunduğu alanın tarihi geçmişi Bizans Dönemi ve Osmanlı Dönemi olmak üzere iki dönem halinde analiz edilmiştir. Bunun yanında, yapı altındaki Bizans sarnıcının yeniden işlevlendirilmesine yönelik restorasyon projesi hazırlanmıştır.Tezin ilk bölümünde giriş, tezin amacı, kapsamı, yöntemi bildirilmiştir. İkinci bölümde İstanbul Lisesi'nin bulunduğu alanın tarihsel gelişimi Bizans ve Osmanlı dönemi olmak üzere iki dönem halinde ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde, Bizans Su Sistemi'ne ilişkin genel bilgiler verilmiş, su sistemi içinde yer alan sarnıçlar tipolojik olarak incelenmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde, Bizans sarnıcı örneği olan İstanbul Lisesi Sarnıcı'nın konumu, mimari özellikleri, yapım teknikleri ve malzeme kullanımı, mimari elemanlar ve bezeme özellikleri, bozulmalar ve deformasyonları ele alınmıştır. Beşinci bölüm olan restitüsyon çalışmasında, tez konusu sarnıcın haritalarda konumu, tarihlenmesi ve restitüsyon projesi yaklaşımına esas öneriler sunulmuştur. Altıncı bölümde, restorasyon yaklaşımına esas yeniden işlevlendirmeye yönelik uygulama önerileri getirilmiştir.Restorasyon projesi ile amaçlanan; İstanbul İli, Fatih İlçesi Türkocağı Cad. No: 4 adresinde ve tapunun 40 pafta, 300 ada, 13 parselinde kain İstanbul Erkek Lisesi'nin 2.bodrum katında konumlanan Bizans Sarnıcı'nın kent ve çevre kimliğine katkıda bulunan, gerek kültür varlığı niteliği, gerekse kültürel çevreye olan tarihsel katkıları açısından, korunması gerekli Kültür Varlığı'nın mimari görüntüsündeki malzeme ve yapı elemanlarında eserin bütünlüğünü ve karakterini bozmamak koşuluyla, Kültür/Sanat Merkezi fonksiyonunun kazandırılmasıyla gerek öğrencilerin, gerekse mezunların sanatsal faaliyetlerini sergileyeceği ve kültürel etkileşimin sürdürüleceği bir mekan önerilmektedir.

Under the so-called ?Study of the Area at which Istanbul (for boys) High School Exists within the Scope of Protection, and the restoration of cistern located under the building?, historical background of the area was analyzed in two periods: Byzantine and Ottoman. Also a restoration project to re-function the Byzantine Cistern located under the building was prepared.First section of the thesis comprises introduction, goal, scope, and method of the thesis. In the second section, historical development of the area is investigated under two separate era: Byzantine and Ottoman eras. Third section is dedicated to the information about Byzantine water supply system, and investigates the cisterns as a part of the system from a typological point of view. Fourth section deals with the location, architectural features, and construction techniques of this Byzantine cistern example as well as use of the materials, architectural elements, decoration features, and deformations of it. In the restitution study which comprises the Fifth Section, suggestions on the location of the cistern on the maps, dating the cistern and approach for the restitution projects are presented. In the sixth section, application suggestions on re-functionalizing the cistern which forms the basis of the restoration project are presented.Goal of the restoration Project; is to provide a venue in which the students as well as graduates can find exhibits their artworks, thus to maintain the cultural interaction by giving an identity of Cultural/Art Center to the Byzantine Cistern located at Istanbul, Fatih, Turkocagı Street No:4 and situated on 40th block, plot no of 300, and layout no 13, on the deed register, second floor of Istanbul High School, and which should be preserved for its contribution to the environment and urban identity as an cultural asset and for its historical contribution to the cultural environment by protecting its architectural appearance without any harm to the integrity and characters of its material and structural elements.
