SUMMARY it is sal d l,lı a t h i.s tor y, in n sense, is not a record of the past, but is an ardı i ve för the futüre. From this perspective, we believe t. hat Mıe experiences gained f r örn o ur h i si. ör i çal re l a t i onslı i p will provide a useful foundatiorı on whio h t o hu i l d f u tu r e understa rıd i ng and cooperalion betveen our two countries. We also believe tha t hy d e v e l o p i n g and improving relations, both Turkey and Korea will enhance t h e i r standing in tlıe international arena. The p u r p o s e of this s t u d y is t o preseni the relations between Turkey and Korea in a manner which will constitute a s o u r c e of analysis, and t o enable a review of the stages t h r o u g h w h L c h the s e r-el a ti ons h a ve progressed. The initlative here is exp l orat i. ve, with the aim of building a fraraeuork Tor ful üre cooperation. The focal point of this stıtdy is to analyse relations between our two countries from a wider historical aspect and in particular from the 1.950's to the present day. From this study we will l»:- ab l c l.o observe the changes vhich have takon plaoR, o l ansıfy t h e m h i s t o r i c a l l y, and d e t e r m i n e the c h ı\ r a c. l erişti c s of the relevant periods. The ma i n foous is on the period from 1950, when the Korean War started, to 1990. it m u s t be e m p h a s i s e d t h a t this is a c h r o n o l o g i c a l r a t h e r t h a n a n a l y t i c a l study, hase d o n 202events and p u b l i s h e d documents. Tlıere are limitations on t he m a t e r i a l and sources available for inde p t h research on the subject. The study contains f i v e s e e t i o n s.' 1.in the first section, contact and cooperation between Türk and Korean tribes through history are mentioned and the subject of e n l i v e n i n g these relations w lı i oh oame t o the f ör e sin o e the l 9 5 O ' s are di scussed. 2.in the seoond section, relations in general between the two countries since 1950 are considered in four separate periods. T h is covers the early era of blood brotherhood to the developraent of real cooperation and economic relations of the present day. 3.in the third section, the relations betveen Turkey and Korea are given from a political and m i l i. t a r y p o i n t of v i e w. 4.in the four t h section we deal with economic a n d c u l t u r a l a s p e c t s. 5.in the f i f t. h, w e c o ver the relations between Tur l', oy an el M o r \. h K o r e a.
