Özet

Tez kapsamında, İstanbul İli, Fatih İlçesi, Haseki Semti, Keyci Hatun Mahallesi içerisinde konumlanan Yusuf Paşa Sıbyan Mektebi incelenmiştir. Mektep, Haseki Caddesi üzerinde, doğusunda Ahmet Kâhya Camii Sokağı, batısında Doktor Adnan Adıvar Caddesi, güneyinde Cerrahpaşa Caddesi ile sınırlanan alanda bulunmaktadır. Mektebin güneyinde Halide Edip Adıvar Köşkü, doğusunda Hacı Bayram Kaftani Camii, batısında Haseki Hastanesi yeni poliklinik binaları yer almaktadır. Çalışma konusu olan Yusuf Paşa Sıbyan Mektebi?nin gelecek nesillere güvenle aktarılabilmesi için gerekli araştırmaların yapılması ve önerilen müdahalelerin kapsamının tanımlaması amaçlanmaktadır. Tarihi on sekizinci yüzyılın ilk yarısına kadar uzanan Yusuf Paşa Sıbyan Mektebi, İstanbul?daki sur içi sıbyan mekteplerindendir. Tez çalışması; Yusuf Paşa Sıbyan Mektebi?nin bulunduğu Haseki bölgesinin özelliklerini, sıbyan mektepleri mimarisini ve İstanbul?da inşa edilmiş sıbyan mektepleri hakkındaki araştırmaları, mektebin günümüzdeki durumunun ayrıntılı olarak incelenmesini, rölövesini, restitüsyon ve restorasyon projelerini içermektedir. Tez çalışmasının bir diğer bölümünü oluşturan İstanbul Sıbyan Mektepleri üzerine yapılan katalog çalışması, tezin ekler bölümünde yer almaktadır. Bu katalog çalışmasında 1912 ? 1914 yılları Müfettiş Raporu, 1919 yılı Muallim Cevdet Listesi ile 1923 yılına ait Mekatib-i Vakfiye Cetveli temel alınmıştır.

The conceptual context of this research dissertation is centered on Yusuf Pasha Primary School -- located in the Province of Istanbul, District of Fatih, Borough of Haseki, and nestled in the quarters of Keyci Hatun. Straddling the Haseki main road, the school is situated in a zone delineated by Ahmet Kahya Mosque Street to the east, Doktor Adnan Adıvar Avenue in the west, and the Cerrahpaşa thoroughfare in the south. The south of the seminary building is adorned by Halide Edip Adıvar Kiosk, while Hacı Bayram Kaftani Mosque hosts the eastern flank and new polyclinic annexes of Haseki Hospital mark its western borderline. Acting with the ultimate motive of conveying the heritage of Yusuf Pasha Primary School to posterity intact and with confidence -- forming the subject of this academic venture -- the fundamental objective of this analysis is to perform the necessary surveys and define the scope of the recommended interventions. Tracing its historical roots to first half of the 18th century, Yusuf Pasha Primary School is classified among institutions encircled within the city ramparts. This thesis study, therefore, aims at a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the Haseki region where the school is positioned, the common architectural traits of Ottoman-age primary schools, uncovering past studies on the primary schools constructed in Istanbul and, finally, an examination of the school?s current status, incorporating the surveying, restitution and restoration projects. The catalogue study on the over-all Istanbul Primary Schools, amounting to another division of the thesis subject, is placed in the annex section of the treatise. In the study, the inspectors? reports for the period 1912-1914, the Teachers? List for 1919 and Foundation Schools Schedule were taken as the basis.
