A study was conducted in the skiing centers of <;:amurlu-YUcedag and CIbIltepeSarlpm in SarIkaml~, Kars. In the study, natural and cultural properties, current land use, accomadation units, mechanical establishments, furniture units, distinctive landscape characteristics were detennined together with current and potential problems. Landcape methods that consisted of surveys, analysis, synthesis and evaluation were employed in the study. Results show that both YUcedag and SarI9am skiing centers have high potentials for inter tourism in terms of morpho Ii cal structure, plant diverstiy and climate and sociacultural structure. Howerver, infra-structure and other facilities are not enough for domestic and foreign demands for tourism and current potential is not exploited enough in those skiing centers In future planning works ecologically sensitive location should be considered and optimum land use should be detennined. Furthermore, alternative tourism activities should be supported and protection-usage balance should be maintaned with environment-sensitive physical plans.
