Özet
IV. Mehmed döneminde (1648-1687) Ayntab şehrinin fiziki, demografik, idari, sosyal ve ekonomik durumunun incelendiği bu çalışma dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş kısmında Ayntab'ın coğrafi özellikleri ile XVII. yüzyılın ikinci yarısına kadarki tarihçesi hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Birinci bölümde şehrin fiziki ve demografik yapısı ele alınmış, yönetim, zanaat ve ticaret birimlerine ait yapılar, dinî ve sosyal yapılar ile şehir halkının oturduğu evlerden bahsedilmiştir. Akabinde de şehrin nüfusu ve nüfusun unsurları ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde Ayntab'ın idari statüsü incelenerek ehl-i örf ve ehl-i şer'e mensup görevliler ile şehir halkının yönetimdeki temsilcilerinden tek tek söz edilmiştir. Üçüncü bölüm olan sosyal yapı kısmında ailenin sosyal ve ekonomik yapısı, vakıflar ve şehirde işlenen suçlar konusu işlenmiştir. Dördüncü ve son bölüm olan ekonomik yapı bahsinde ise mukataalar, şehirlilerin ödemekle mükellef olduğu vergiler, esnaf grupları ile zirai ve ticari yaşam konu edilmiştir.

This thesis have four parts in which the physical, demographical, administrative, social and economical situation of Aintab during the time of Mehmed the Fourth (1648-1687) were examined. In introduction, the information about geographical features of Aintab and history of Aintab up to second half of 17 th centuries was given. In the first part, the physical and demographical structure were handed and the structures belong to the bodies of administration, trade and craft, religious and social structures and the houses of ordinary people were mentioned. Then the demography of city and the elements of demography were dealt. In the second part, the representetives of the community of the city in the adminstration and the officials of ehl-i şer and ehl-i örf were mentioned one by one while administrative status of Aintab was observed.In the third part which has social structure, the social and economic structure of family, waqfs and the crimes committed in the city were discussed. The fourth and the last part, which has economic structure, mukataas, taxes that the city community had to paid, guilds and the agricultural and commercial life were mentioned.
