Özet
İslam Tarihi araştırmacıları, Hz. Peygamber'in şahsını, yaşam tarzını ve sözlerini ele alarak kendilerince değerlendirmelerde bulunmuşlardır. Onun hayatı sadece Müslüman tarihçilerin değil Batılı araştırmacıların da dikkatini çekmiştir. Oryantalizmin Hz. Peygamber (sav)'e yaklaşım biçimi, genellikle ona ve tebliğ ettiği dine olan güveni sarsmak üzere kuruludur. Hz. Peygamber (sav); onlar için, eski dinlerden ve kitaplardan çalıntılar yaparak bunları kendine mal eden, evlilikleri sebebiyle şehvet düşkünü, savaşları sebebiyle ganimet ve yağmacılığa meraklı, intikam arzularıyla hareket eden bir kişidir. Hollandalı Reinhart Dozy, Fransız tarihçi ve oryantalistlerden oluşan bir fikri ortamda yetişmesi sebebiyle, İslam ve Hz. Peygamber (sav)'e dair“toptan reddetme”şeklindeki anlayışı benimsemiştir. Araştırmalarımız sonucu Dozy'e yöneltilen eleştirileri konu alan çalışmalar olduğu tespit edilmiş, ancak bu çalışmalar istenilen seviyede ihtiyaca cevap vermediği görülmüştür. Bu sebeple İslam Tarihi kaynaklarından ve son dönem araştırma mahsulü eserlerden de faydalanarak onun“Târîh-i İslâmiyet”adlı eserinde Hz. Peygamber (sav)'in hayatı ile ilgili rivayetleri değerlendiren bir tez yazmayı uygun gördük.

The researchers of the history of Islam have been discussing the individuality, life style and quotes of the Messenger of Allah. His life has not been overlooked by not only by muslim historians but also by western researchers.The attitude of orientalism towards the prophet Mohammed is usually shaped into a form which intends to shake the confidence that lies in him and the religion he rescripts. Fort them, the prophet Mohammed is a person who steals things from old religions and pretends as if those things are his own, who is a lascivious due to his marriages, who is willing for ragine because of his wars and who moves with his revenge desire. Netherlander Reinhart Dozy, since he has grown up in a mental society full of French historians and orientalists, has acquired a“totally repudiative”perspective against the prophet Mohammed. In the light of our researches, it can be seen that there are some studies conducted on criticisms directed against Dozy yet it can be also seen that those studies are not ample for requirements. For those reasons lined, we found it necessary to draw up a thesis that evaluates the rumours about the prophet Mohammed written in Dozy's book called“Târîh-i İslâmiyet”by getting help from sources of history of Islam and recent historical works.
