In an era of great political turmoil and re-alliances in the Middle East, it is crucial to understand the shift in Turkish foreign policy of Syria, from an intimate relation to a stage where the two states are come close to attacking one another. This study aims to analyze the changing dynamics in foreign relations between Turkey and Syria since the Arab Revolutions which began in 2010. It attempts to answer two questions: first, what has changed in Turkey's intra-state dynamics which affected its foreign policy on Syria to shift after the 2011 Syrian uprisings, and second, which political forces and capitalist fractions within Turkey benefit from the current problematic relationship? In this process, a comparative analysis of the security-based approach, strategic-depth approach, identitybased approach, and critical state-theoretical approach were investigated. Such analysis revealed that, as effectively theorized by the critical state-theoretical approach, the crisis and the shift in Turkish foreign policy on Syria, in post-2011 uprisings, were affected by the conflictual relations among fractions within the Turkish state.
