Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokullardaki seçmeli ders uygulamasını öğrenciler, öğretmenler ve okul yöneticileri görüşlerine göre değerlendirmektir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak anket kullanılmıştır. Ankara ili merkez ilçelerinden üçü (Çankaya, Etimesgut, Yenimahalle) belirlenmiş ve bu ilçelerde yer alan ortaokullar arasından 30 ortaokul seçkisiz olarak belirlenip örneklem içerisine alınmıştır. Bu okullarda toplam 741 öğrenciye, 48 öğretmene ve 30 ortaokul yöneticisine anket uygulanarak veri toplanmıştır. Toplanan verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistiklerle beraber öğretmen ve yönetici görüşleri arasındaki anlamlı farklılık olup olmadığını belirlemek amacıyla Mann-Whitney U Testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın seçmeli derslerle ilgili genel boyutunda, okutulan seçmeli derslerin okul idaresi tarafından belirlendiği görülmüştür. Öğrenciler ve öğretmenler seçmeli dersleri gerekli ve faydalı bulduklarını fakat yöneticiler buna katılmadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Öğrenciler zorunlu dersleri seçmeli derslerden daha önemli bulduklarını, öğretmen ve yöneticiler seçmeli derslerin öğrencilerin meslek seçimine katkısı bulunmadığını ifade etmişlerdir. Seçmeli derslerin okullarda uygulanma sürecine ilişkin olarak öğretmenler, öğrencilerin ilgi ve yetenekleri doğrultusunda ders seçemedikleri görüşündedirler. Öğrencilerin ders seçim sürecinde en fazla velilerine danıştıkları ve rehberlik servislerine başvurmadıkları belirlenmiştir. Seçmeli derslerin amaçları, içeriği, öğrenme-öğretme ve değerlendirme durumları boyutunda, katılımcılar seçmeli derslerde zorunlu dersleri takviye etmek amacı ile ders işlendiğini ifade etmişlerdir. Yöneticiler, seçmeli derslerin işlenebilmesi için okulun fiziksel olanaklarının (müzik odası, laboratuvar, bilgisayar lab., vb.) ve araç-gereçlerin yeterli olmadığını, öğretmenler seçmeli derslerin kitap/öğretim materyallerini yeterli bulmadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenler seçmeli ders içeriklerinin zorunlu derslere paralel hazırlandığı ve seçmeli derslerin etkili işlenebilmesi için sınıf mevcutlarının azaltılması gerektiğini ifade etmişlerdir. Öğretmenler seçmeli derslerin not ile değerlendirilmeye başlamasıyla öğrencilerin bu dersleri daha ciddiye aldıkları görüşündedirler. Öğrenciler seçmeli derslerin not ile değerlendirilmesi istememekte, öğretmen ve yöneticiler ise seçmeli derslerin not ile değerlendirilmesi görüşüne katılmaktadırlar.

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the elective courses in middle school according to the opinions of the students, teachers and school administration. The opinions of students, teachers and school administration have been taken. In the research, as a data gathering method questionnaire, which is prepared separately for the student, the teacher, and the school administration are used. Three center districts (Çankaya, Etimesgut, Yenimahalle) of Ankara province, and 30 middle schools are randomly selected and taken as sample. In these schools by applying the questionnaire to 741 students, 48 teachers and 30 school principals, the data were gathered. For the analysis of the gathered data, together with descriptive statistics, in order to understand the difference between the opinions of the teacher and principal, Mann-Whitney U test is used. In the general aspect of the research related with the elective courses, it is observed that elective courses which are taught are determined by the school administration. It has been seen that the students and the teachers stated that they regarded these elective courses as beneficial and necessary, on the other hand, the school principals disagreed with this opinion. The students indicated that they regarded the compulsory courses are more important than the elective courses, the teachers and the principals stated that these elective courses do not have any contribution in terms of job preference of the students. In the process of the practice of elective courses the teachers think that the students cannot choose the courses according to their interest and ability.
