Özet
Bu çalışmada sahâbe arasında önemli bir yeri bulunan“Sâbit b. Kays b. Şemmâs'ın Hayatı ve İslâm Tarihindeki Yeri”hakkında bilgi vermeye çalıştık. İslâm'a hizmeti, askerî, sosyal ve kültürel hayattaki faaliyetleri, Allah'a ve Rasûlü'ne olan bağlılığı, sahâbe arasındaki konumu ve hakkında çalışma yapılmamış olması bizi bu çalışmaya teşvik etti. Künyesi 'Ebû Muhammed' olan Sâbit b. Kays b. Şemmâs, Hazrec kabilesine mensuptur. Kabilesi içerisinde saygın bir konuma sahip olan Sâbit b. Kays'ın doğum tarihi bilinmemektedir. Ancak Medine-i Münevvere'de hicretten önce İslâm'a ilk girenlerdendir. Hz. Peygamber ile birlikte Bedir hariç bütün savaşlara katılmıştır.“Hatîbü'l Ensâr”diye bilinen Sâbit b. Kays, daha sonra bazı heyetlere Hz. Peygamber adına hitap edince“Hâtibu'n-Nebî (Hatîbû'r-Rasül)”lakabıyla da anıldı. Aynı zamanda Hz. Peygamber'in kâtiplerinden oldu. Hakkında birçok ayet inzal buyruldu. Hz. Ebûbekir döneminde yapılan Yemâme savaşında ise şehit düştü. Araştırma, çalışmanın konusu olan Sâbit b. Kays özelinde yürütüldü. Rivayetler nakledilirken gereksiz bilgi vermekten kaçınıldı. Ancak araştırmanın anlaşılması bakımından gerekli görülen yerlerde siyak ve sibak özet geçildi. Araştırmayla doğrudan ilgili olmayan fakat konu bütünlüğünü sağlayan bilgi, tanım ve anekdotlar dipnotlarda verildi.

In this study, we tried to give information about“the life of Sâbit b. Kays b. Şemmas and his position in Islam history.”His service to Islam, his activities in military, social and cultural life, his commitment to Allah and his probhet, his status among the companios of the prophet Muhammad and that no study has been done about him encouraged us to carry out his study. Sâbit b. Kays b. Şemmas whose personal record is“Ebû Muhammad”is a member of hazrec tribe. The birth date of Sâbit b. Kays who has an esteemed position in his tribe is not known. However, he is one of the first people who embraced Islam before hejıra. He participated in all wars except the battle of Badr with the prophet. Sâbit b. Kays who is known as“Hatîbu'l Ensâr (the orator of Ansar) was also mentioned as ”Hatibu'n-Nebi (Hatîbu'r-Rasül) (the orator of the prophet) for he addressed to some committee on behalf of the prophet Muhammad. He also became one of the clerks of the Prophet Muhammad. Many ayats about him were sent. He fell a martyr in the battle of Yemame which was made during the time of Ebu Bekir. The study has been carried out specifically on Sabit b. Kays. It has been avoided giving unnecessary information while telling the narratives. However, background and foreground knowledge have been given as a short summary when needed in terms of being understood. Information, definition and anecdotes which are not directly related to the subject but provide subject integrity have been given as footnotes.
