Özet
Bu tez öncelikle Stoa felsefesinin ana hatlarını özetlemek, ayrıca Stoa felsefesinin ve etik anlayışının en merkezî kavramı ve öğretisi olan Oikeiosis öğretisinin felsefe literatürüne girişini, düşünce tarihindeki yerini ve önemini göstermek için hazırlanmıştır. İlk dönem Stoacı filozoflardan günümüze neredeyse hiçbir yazılı eserin kalmamış olması, Oikeiosis öğretisine dair, Seneca ve Cicero gibi son dönem Stoacı filozoflara başvuruyu zorunlu kılmıştır, ayrıca Diogenes Laertios'un Ünlü Filozofların Yaşamları ve Öğretileri adlı eseri gibi Stoa felsefesine dair ikincil kaynaklar tez boyunca başvurulan başlıca kaynaklar arasında yer almıştır. Tezin bir diğer amacı, Stoa felsefesinin Spinoza üzerindeki etkisine işaret etmenin yanı sıra, Spinoza'nın ahlak felsefesinin temel kavramı olan Conatus'un büyük ölçüde Stoacı Oikeiosis öğretisinden mülhem olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Oikeiosis Türkçeye“kendilik sevgisi”olarak tercüme edilebilir ve insan da dâhil tüm canlıların kendi varlıklarını korumaya ve (ilelebet) sürdürmeye yönelik birincil itkilerini/içgüdülerini ifade eder. Düşünce ya da daha genel olarak insanlık tarihindeki, bugüne kadar ulaşmış olan yazılı kaynaklarda ve mitlerde çeşitli tezahürleri gözlemlenebilecek olan“kendilik sevgisi”ya da“yaşama içgüdüsü”ilk kez Stoacı filozoflar tarafından kavramsallaştırılmış ve söz konusu kavram Stoacıların etik, ve dahi felsefe anlayışlarının merkezine yerleştirilmiştir. Tez boyunca ilkin, doğup geliştiği sosyal ve siyasal ortam içinde Stoa felsefesi; mantık, fizik ve ahlak olmak üzere üç başlık altında özetlenmiş, ikinci bölümde Stoacı Oikeiosis öğretisinin mahiyeti detaylı olarak ele alınmış, ayrıca Gazali başta olmak üzere Stoa felsefesinin ve Oikeiosis öğretisinin İslam felsefesi ve düşünürleri üzerindeki etkilerine değinilmiş ve son olarak Spinoza felsefesinin Stoa felsefesi ile olan benzerlikleri/paralellikleri özetlendikten sonra Spinozacı Conatus öğretisinin Stoacı Oikeiosis öğretisinin 17. yüzyıldaki bir görünümünden ibaret olduğu gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Sonuç bölümünde ise Oikeiosis'in insan edimlerini anlamak ve yorumlamak için, özellikle psikolojik tanı ve tedavi için eşsiz bir temel oluşturabileceği iddiasında bulunulmuştur.

This thesis aims to summarize the main lines of Stoic philosophy and additionally to throw light on introduction of the Oikeiosis doctrine, which is the most important concept and doctrine of Stoic philosophy and Ethics, to the literature of philosophy and to show its ground and importance in the history of thought. The fact that none of the writings of earliest Stoic philosophers has survived, made reference necessary to later Stoa teachers such as Seneca and Cicero, about Oikeiosis doctrine. Furthermore, secondary sources concerning Stoic philosophy such as Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers written by Diogenes Laertios were among main resources of this study. Right along with indicating the affect of Stoic philosophy on Spinoza, another aim of this study is to reveal that Conatus, the main concept of Spinoza's Ethics philosophy, is inspired by Stoic Oikeiosis. Oikeiosis may be translated as“self-love”and it is the primary drive/instinct of all living creatures including human beings to protect and sustain their presences. Different manifestations of“self-love”or“life instinct”is present in surviving written sources or myths throughout the history of thought or the history of humanity yet it is first conceptualized by Stoic philosophers and this concept excavates itself into the center of Stoic Ethics and even philosophy. This study primarily summarizes the Stoic philosophy within the social and political context it grew, under three titles; Logic, Physics and Ethics. The second part deals with the nature of the Stoic Oikeiosis doctrine in detail together with the impact of Stoic philosophy and the Oikeiosis doctrine on Islamic philosophers and particularly on Gazalli. After a summary of the resemblance of Stoic philosophy with Spinoza, the study ends with the assertion that the Spinozaic doctrine of Conatus is only a 17th century perspective of the Stoic Oikeiosis doctrine. In conclusion, it has been also claimed that Oikeiosis (doctrine) could be a basis to understand and interpret the human behaviours, especially for the psychological diagnosis and treatment
