Özet
En basit haliyle modernleşme süreci, değişime verilen tepki olarak tanımlanabilir. Değişimi başlatan; devlet, savaş veya göç olabilir. Ama ister olumlu ister olumsuz, değişime verilen tepki gündelik hayatın içinden gelir. Değişim, gündelik hayatın verdiği tepki sayesinde modernleşme sürecine dönüşür. Peki, gündelik hayatın değişimi nerede başlar? Bu çalışmada, gündelik hayattaki değişimin başlangıç noktasının eğlence hayatı olduğu savunulmaktadır. Bu iddiayı kanıtlamak için en uygun alan, hem Osmanlı'nın hem de Cumhuriyet'in değişime en açık ve eğlence hayatı en zengin şehri İstanbul'dur. Bundan dolayı, bu çalışmada İstanbul'un eğlence hayatında tarih boyunca yaşanan değişimlerin, gündelik hayatı ne yönde değiştirdiği ele alınmaktadır. Böylece bu değişimlere kimlerin nasıl tepki verdiği görülecek ve Türkiye'deki modernleşme sürecinin karakteri hakkında yorum yapılabilecektir.

Basically, modernisation process can be defined a react to change. Governments, wars or imigrations may be starter of the change. But whether positive or negative, the response of change comes from everyday life. Change becomes modernisation process through response of everyday life. So, where is the starting point of the change in everyday life? The starting point of changes in everyday life is portrayed as entertainment life in this study. The most suitable area for prove this idea is İstanbul where the most open city to change both Ottoman and Republic also have the richest entertainment life in the all country. For this reason, the changes take place throughout history in the entertaintment life of İstanbul has changed everyday life in what direction are dealt with in this study. Thus, will be possible that seeing how reacts to these changes from who and make a comment about character of modernisation process in Turkey.
