ABSTRACT Yapıcı Nilgün,“Identification of the views of teachers, students and parents about the homework in the primary schools. ”Master Thesis. Advisor: Yrd. Doç. Dr. Suat PEKTAŞ, Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences, Ankara, 1995. This investigation has been performed in order to assess the ideas of teachers, students and parents about the homeworks given to the fourth and fifth-class students of the primary school and make some functional proposals. The research environment is formed by the teachers, parents and students of the fourth and the fifth classes of the state primary schools in Düzce in 1993-1994 educational year. We have chosen ten primary schools in the town centre as samples I have decided to choose these schools according to their socio-economic levels. In addition, they have been chosen in a random way and proportionally to our sample. Three of them are at the upper socio-economic level, three of them are at the middle socio-economic level and four of them are at the lower socio-economic level. The size of the population has been identified as 840 individuals, composed of fourty teachers, four hundred students and four hundred parents. At the stage of application, we have made contact with fourty teachers, four hundred students and three hundreds sixty four parents. 189In order to collect data, survey forms, prepared by the researcher, were used. First trial has been applied on the fourth and fifth class students, teachers and parents of the Azmi Milli Primary School. At the stage of data analysis, we have analyzed the data, which is related to the personal information, by using frequency (F) and percentage (%) To determine whether three is an important difference in the opinion about the data collected by using ranking criterion, one dimensional variance analysis (F Test) has been applied. We have also used the Least-Squares Difference (LSD) Technique in order to identify among which groups there have been differences. At the stage of classificational measurement, Chi-square (xz) test has been applied to determine whether there are diferences among the groups. The collected data after the completion of the surveys has been summarized in the tableaus and these have been interpreted Consequently, teachers, students and parents have taken up the importance of homeworks seriously in the educational system. But, unfortunately, it has been observed that these homeworks are unadequate to fulfill their real functions. At the meantime, the teachers can not appropriate the necessary time to conerd these homeworks, As a result, the students are preparing their homeworks 190unseriously. They are preparing them in one or two hours of time on the average. This period of time is suitable for the time period expressed in the regulations. 191
