Özet
Osmanlı sosyo-ekonomik tarihinin önemli kaynaklarından olan temettuat defterleri, ait oldukları dönemin sosyal ve ekonomik özelliklerini yansıtan çok önemli bilgiler ihtiva etmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Tanzimat ile birlikte ortaya konulan vergi reformunun bir ürünü olan temettuat defterleri çerçevesinde, 1840'lı yıllarda Konya Eyaleti'ne bağlı Niğde Sancağı'nın bir kaza merkezi olan Ulukışla Kazası'nın sosyal ve ekonomik durumu ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmada ana kaynak olarak 16219 numaralı Ulukışla Kazası Temettuat Defterinden istifade edilmiştir. Ulukışla Temettuat Defterinde kaza merkezi ile birlikte toplam 31 köyün kaydı bulunmaktadır. Transkripsiyonu tamamlanan temettuat defterinden elde edilen veriler ışığında, köyler bazında tablo ve grafikler oluşturulmuştur. Bu grafik ve tablolar üzerinden sayısal analizlerle dönemin sosyo-ekonomik yapısına ilişkin değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur. Çalışmamız giriş bölümü ile birlikte üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde Ulukışla Kazası'nın kısa tarihi geçmişi ve idari yapısından bahsedilmiştir. Birinci bölümde, Osmanlı Devleti'nde vergi düzeni ve temettuat tahrirleri ana hatlarıyla açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde, Ulukışla'nın sosyal ve ekonomik yapısı ele alınırken son olarak üçüncü bölümde ise bölgedeki ziraat hayatı ve hayvancılık faaliyetleri mercek altına alınmıştır.

Temettuat registers, one of the major sources of Ottoman socio-economic history of period, contain important information as regards to the social and economic characteristics of the era they reflect. In this study, being an output of tax reform propounded with the Tanzimat, and around the framework of Temettuat book, social and economics condition of Ulukışla district being a central district of Niğde which is connected with Konya in 1840s. In this study, as a main source Temettuat registers 16219 numbered of Ulukışla district are exploited. In Temettuat book of Ulukışla, there are the records of total of 31 villages with the central district. In the light of data obtained from Temettuat books completed its transcription, tables and graphics on the basis of village are constituted. Evaluations associated with the structure of that era's socio-economic are made with numerical analyses by way of this tables and graphics. The thesis consists of three main section with an opening chapter. In the opening chapter, a short historical background and governing structure of Ulukışla district are mentioned. In the first section of the thesis, the tax regulation in Ottoman State and Temettuat tahrirs are explained with the main lines. While the social and economic structure of Ulukışla is dealed with in the second section, the agricultural life and livestock activities in the district are lastly held under the microscope in the third section.
