KADINLARDA BEL ÇEVRESİ VE BEDEN KİTLE İNDEKSİ VE BECK DEPRESYON ENVANTERİ PUANLAMASI ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN SAPTANMASI Elif BUNSUZ Erciyes Üniversitesi, Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Beslenme ve Diyetetik Anabilim Dalı Yüksek Lisans Tezi, Haziran 2018 Danışman: Doç. Dr. Nalan Hakime NOĞAY ÖZET Kadınlarda beden kitle indeksi (BKİ), bel çevresi ve Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE) puanlaması arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amacıyla yapılan kesitsel ve tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışmanın örneklemini ilaç kullanmayan, gebe olmayan, sağlıklı 245 kadın oluşturmuştur. Katılımcılara ait genel bilgiler anket formuna kaydedilmiş, antropometrik ölçümleri alınmış (vücut ağırlığı, boy uzunluğu, bel çevresi, kalça çevresi), BKİ ve bel/kalça oranı hesaplanmıştır. Depresyona yatkınlık durumu BDE ile değerlendirilmiştir. Bireylerin % 40'ının bel çevresi 88 cm üzerinde bulunmuştur. BKİ'ye göre bireylerin % 29.8'i hafif şişman, % 27.8'i şişman olarak bulunmuştur. Hafif şişman ve şişman olan grubun BDE'den aldığı puan ve depresyona yatkınlık oranının BKİ'si normal olan gruba göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Depresyona yatkın olanların boy uzunluğu, BKİ ve bel çevresi ölçümleri depresyona yatkın olmayanlara göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Depresyona yatkınlığı olanlar, olmayanlara göre şişman olma açısından 2.43 kat daha riskli bulunmuştur. Depresyona yatkın olma riskini yaş 1.04 kat, BKİ 1.07 kat arttırmaktadır. Yaş, vücut ağırlığı, kalça çevresi ve bel çevresindeki bir birimlik artışın hafif şişman ve şişman olma riskini sırasıyla 1.15, 1.45, 1.32 ve 1.34 kat arttırdığı saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, obezite ve depresyon karşılıklı ilişki içerisindedir. Bu nedenle obezite tedavisi gören kadınlar tedavinin başarılı olması için mutlaka psikiyatrik açıdan değerlendirilmelidir.

Prof. Dr. Nalan Hakime NOĞAY ABSTRACT The sample group of this cross-sectional and descriptive type research, performed to study the relationship between the body mass index (BMI), waist circumference and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) scoring in women, consisted of 245 healthy and non-pregnant women not taking any medication. General information about the participants was recorded in the survey form. Anthropometric measurements were taken (body weight, body height, waist circumference, hip circumference), BMI and waist/hip ratio was calculated. Their susceptibility to depression was assessed by BDI. According to the BMI, the waist circumference of 40% of the participants was over 88 cm. According to BMI, 29.8% of the participants were overweight and 27.8% were obese. BMI scores of the mildly obese and their susceptibility to depression were significantly higher than the group with normal BMI scores (p <0.05). Those who were susceptible to depression have significantly higher body height, BMI and waist circumference measurements compared to those who were not susceptible to depression (p < 0.05). Those with susceptibility to depression were 2.43 times riskier in terms of obesity than those without. The risk for susceptibility to depression increased 1.04 times with age and 1.07 times with the BMI. One unit increase in age, body weight, hip circumference and waist circumference were found to increase the risk of being overweight and obese at the rate of 1.15, 1.45, 1.32 and 1.34 times, respectively. In conclusion, obesity and depression are correlated. Therefore, women undergoing obesity treatment should necessarily be evaluated in terms of psychiatric condition in order for the success of the treatment.
