SUMMARY Hüseyin KURT,“Philosophical Idea of Muhammed Hamdi Yazir of Elmalı”Thesis for High Bachelor's Degree. (Consultant: Prof. Dr. Mehmet BAYRAKDAR), IV, p. 128. Muhammed Hamdi Yazir of Elmalı is (1878-1942) one of the exceptional characters is recent Turkish ideal and scientific life. He had reinterpreted ISlam by means of ideal and scientific aspects with a dynamic understanding of religion and Islam, tried to open new horizons for Muslims and showed the ways to eradicate the dimness in minds and souls. M. Hamdi Yazir, grown in the last period öf Ottoman Empire and lived at initial years of the republic is a theolog who ^deeply examines the matters included by philosophy, belief, Islamic law, sufism and social life, he found solutions for religious problems using scientific data, handled the proofs in respect to God's existence through an approach rejecting materialist, positivist and evolutionary ideas tried to find philosophical bases for piophecy and interpreted the subjects in a new content. Having an original commentary on the Koran, he was closely concerned with philosophical problems as well, and translated a book from the French on history of philosophy named“Metalib and Mezahib”(Analytical History of Philosophy) Harridi Yazir had proven his superiority in philosophical area by criticising philosophical systems within“Introduction”(Dibace) he wrote. He considered important to reach absolute synthesis by arrangement th connections between information, could think independently from other interpreters and scientists and criticised them in part, expressed different opinions, contributed to the mobilisation of interpretation activities of Muslims. He colud reach to existence of God and an idealistic cosmos understanding from conscious for existence to mankind's information, tried to solve philosophy-religion contradiction radically wherein he considered the prophecy among philosophical matters. He sees the religion as an eductaion organisation where the pepple, by tHeir own consent will work in favour of goodness and become mature or a freedom path to rise the people above obligations and pressures observed in nature by their own consent. j Hamdi Y.azir, who handled re-organisation and progress conditions of Turkish-Islamic civilisation at two points, social and scientific, in social aspect he shows a society as solution formed by individuals of virtue and restoration utilising the values of the past in scientific aspect.
