Özet
Kocaeli ili konumu bakımından İstanbul'a yakın oluşu ve hinterlandının gelişmiş olması nedeniyle matbaayla diğer illere göre daha erken dönemde tanışmıştır. 1847 yılında azınlıklar tarafından aktif şekilde kullanılmaya başlanılan basın, 19. yüzyılın sonlarına doğru propaganda amacıyla kullanıldığı için devlet tekeline alınmıştır. Devlet tekeline alınan basın, yayınlanan“Kocaeli Gazetesi”ile milli özelik kazanmaya başlamıştır. Kocaeli gazetesi ile başlatılan milli basın, Cumhuriyetin ilanı, teknolojinin artması ve Kocaeli ilinin gelişmesiyle doğru orantıda gelişme göstermiştir. Kocaeli'nin sanayi kenti olması ve ilin çeşitli yerlerden göç alması basının çok sesli olmasına neden olmuştur. Yapılan çalışmada Kocaeli Basının özellikleri, işlevleri, sayısal verilerle tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Because of its proximity to Istanbul in terms of its location in Kocaeli province and the fact that its hinterland is developed, it has met with printing house earlier than others. The press, started to be actively used by minorities in 1847, was taken on a state monopoly because it was used for propaganda towards the end of the 19 th century. The press, in the state monopoly, has begun to acquire national characteristics with the published newspaper“Kocaeli Gazetesi”There was a positive correlation between the national press, which was initiated with deil by Kocaeli Gazetesi, the declaration of the Republic and development of Kocaeli city the fact that Kocaeli is an industrial city and it has lots of immigrants from various locations has caused the press to have multi-works in terms of right to speak. In this study, the features and functions of Kocaeli Press have been detected by numarical values.
