Özet
Bu çalışma Bruno Latour'un“Biz Hiç Modern Olmadık”adlı eserindeki modernlik kavramının çözümlenmesini kapsamaktadır. Bu noktada bahsi geçen eserde yer alan modern nedir? Modern anayasa, modern olmayan anayasa, modernleştirici felsefe, imkânsız modernleşme konuları incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmaya yön vermesi bakımından bu araştırmada kavramsal çerçevede belirlenen Latour'un kavramları detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Tez Çalışmasının, odağını çağdaş bir antropolog-sosyolog olan Bruno Latour'un“Biz Hiç Modern Olmadık”eserindeki“Modernlik algısının ne olduğu ve neden modern olmadık?”sorunsalı oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı adı geçen eserde yer alan modernlik izlenimlerini ve işlevlerini ortaya koymak ve Latour'un kavramları incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın yöntemini, kavramsal analizler oluşturmuştur. Bu bağlamda modern, modernite ve modernizm kavramlarına yönelik ayrıntılı bir alanyazın taraması yapılmıştır. Bunlarla birlikte, aynı zamanda bu alanda son derece önemli olan düşünürün Biz Hiç Modern Olmadık adlı eserinde modernlik kavramına yönelik dile getirdiği derin anlamlar anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, modernitenin çoğu kültürde süreklilik yaratmasının imkânsızlığı vurgulanmış, post-modernizmin moderniteyi kabullenip ona yeni bir bakış açısı getirmekten aciz olduğu ve onun devamı olmaktan öteye gidemediği sonucuna ulaşılmaktadır. Modernitenin kaos-düzen ilişkisi üzerinden meşruluğunu sürekli hale getirme çabasının, yapay bir ihtiyaç olabileceği gibi doğal bir ihtiyaç olabileceği sonucuna da varılmaktadır. Latour da bu meşrulaştırma durumu, modernliğin kördüğümü her defasında yeniden attığı ve iyice bilenmiş bir kılıçla kestiği ifadesinde yansıtılmaktadır.

This study includes the analysis of the concept of modernity in Bruno Latour's“We Have Never Been Modern”. What is modern in this afore mentioned work? Modern constitution, non-modern constitution, modernizing philosophy, impossible modernization issues have been studied. In this study, Latour`s concepts which are determined in a conceptual framework, are discussed in detail in order to guide the study. The focus of the thesis study, a contemporary anthropologist and sociologist, in the work of Bruno Latour`s that is“We Have Never Been Modern”. What is the perception of modernity and why didn't we become modern?“ The main purpose of this research is to reveal the impressions and functions of modernity in this book and Latour`s concepts were examined. The method of the study was composed of conceptual analyzes. In this context, a detailed literature review on the concepts of modern, modernity and modernism has been searched. In this study, along with the literature review, it is tried to understand the deep meanings that the philosopher, who is extremely important in this field, expressed for the concept of modernity in his work that is called ”We Never Ever Modern." Consequently, the impossibility of creating continuity in most cultures was emphasized, it is concluded that post-modernism was incapable of accepting modernity and bringing it to a new perspective and could not go beyond being a continuation of it. It is concluded that the effort to maintain the legitimacy of modernity through the chaos-order relationship can be either an artificial need or a natural need. In Latour, this legitimization is reflected in the statement that modernity throws the deadlock again every time and cut it with a well-sharpened sword.
