Özet
Sanat yoluyla anlatım, bir ressamın kendini ifade edebileceği en iyi yoldur. Bu yol için kullanılan araç her sanatçı için farklılık göstemiştir. Her ressam kendisini ifade edebilecek en uygun yol için çeşitli yönelimler içerisine girmiştir. Her ne kadar herkes farklı bir tercihte bulunsa da temel anlamda hemen her ressam hayatı boyunca mutlaka portre resmetmiştir. Ressamlar portre çizerken elbette kendine has yöntemler kullanmışlardır. Bu sayede ele alınan konu her ne kadar aynı olsa bile ortaya çıkan sonuçlar kişilere, dönemlere, sanatsal tavırlara göre değişiklik göstermiştir. Söz konusu tezde Fayyum portrelerinden günümüz portrelerine uzanan sanat serüveninde, portrelerin nasıl şekillendiği ve yüzyıllar geçtikçe ne tür teknik ve üslupların kullanıldığı ele alınmıştır. Birinci bölüm itibari ile ilk portre geleneği olan Fayyum Portreleriden Klasik döneme kadar olan süreçte portrenin gelişimi incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise klasik resim sanatından modern resim sanatına kadar portrenin nasıl ele alındığı ve ne gibi dönemlerden geçtiği incelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise modern resimden günümüze kadar olan süreçte portrenin önemi ve farklı akımlar ve dönemlerle birlikte gelişen dünyada portrenin sanatçılar tarafından ne şekilde ele alındığı irdelenmiştir. Son bölümde ise Türk Resim sanatı içerisinde İslamiyetinde etkisi göz önünde bulundurularak portre geleneğinin nasıl şekillendiği ve ressamların bu konuda nasıl eserler ortaya koyduğu araştırılmıştır.

Expression through art is the best way for a painter to express himself. The tool used for this path has been different for each artist. Each painter has entered into various orientations for the most appropriate way to express himself. Although everyone makes a different choice, almost every artist has basically painted portraits throughout his life. The painters used their own methods to draw portraits. In this way, even though the subject matter is the same, the results have changed according to individuals, periods and artistic attitudes. In this thesis, in the art that extends from Fayyum portraits to today's portraits, how the portraits are formed and what kind of techniques and styles are used over the centuries have been discussed. In the first chapter, the development of portrait in the process from the first portrait tradition of Fayyum Portraits to the Classical period was analyzed. In the second chapter, how the portrait is handled from classical painting to modern painting is examined. In the third chapter, how the portrait has been handled by the artists along with different movements and periods has been evaluated from the understanding of modern art to the present. In the fourth chapter, the focus is on how the tradition of portrait is shaped and how the painters create works by considering the effect of Islam in Turkish painting. Finally, in the Application Report, the artistic productions put forward in the light of all these researches are included
