Özet
Bu çalışma Yunan yönetmen Theodoros Angelopoulos'un filmlerinde kolektif bellek biçimlerini çözümlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Kolektif bellek, bireyin hatırlama ve unutma dinamiklerinin dâhil olduğu gruplarla ilişkili olarak şekillendiğini belirtmektedir. Sinema kolektif bellek çerçevelerinin görsel temsili için elverişli bir anlatı zemini oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada yönetmenin farklı dönemlerinden seçilen filmleriyle kolektif belleğin ele alınışında farklılaşan eğilimleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Sinemasında 20. yüzyıl Yunan tarihindeki dönüm noktalarının kolektif bellekteki yansımalarını sunan Theodoros Angelopoulos yarattığı özgün görsel diliyle unutturulmaya ve bastırılmaya çalışılan geçmişle yüzleşmeyi amaçlamıştır. Bu bakımdan sineması kolektif belleğin yüzleşme, travma, kimlik, aidiyet, utanç, suçluluk gibi farklı temsil biçimlerini de görünür kılmıştır. Bu çalışma ayrıca Theodoros Angelopoulos sineması aracılığıyla kolektif belleğin sinemada hangi temsil stratejileri üzerinden ortaya konduğunu da sunmayı amaçlamaktadır.

This study aims to analyze the forms of collective memory that can be observed in the films of Theodoros Angelopoulos. Collective memory suggests that the individual's dynamics of remembering and forgetting are shaped accordingly with the groups which the individual is a part of. The art of cinema establishes a convenient ground for the frames of collective memory to be visually represented. The study intends to indicate the diversifying tendencies among the approaches regarding collective memory through films made by the director which are selected from various periods of his artistic life. With his authentic visual discourse, Theodoros Angelopoulos, who offers a perspective to the audience about the reflections of the turning points of the 20th century Greek history on the collective memory, intends to confront the past, which was tried to be forgotten and suppressed. In that sense, his cinema displays various forms of representation of collective memory such as confrontation, trauma, identity, attachment, shame, and guilt. The study also intends to point out which representation strategies are employed to present collective memory in cinema through the analysis of Theodoros Angelopoulos' cinema.
