Özet
Bu araştırmada, yedinci sınıf Fen Bilimleri dersi Işık ünitesinde Algodoo yazılımı ile desteklenen 5E öğretim modelinin öğrencilerin akademik başarıları ve motivasyonuna etkisinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada ön test son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi Kocaeli ili Çayırova ilçesinde bir devlet ortaokulunda yedinci sınıfta öğrenim gören toplam 52 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Yansız atama yoluyla 23 öğrenciden oluşan sınıf kontrol grubu, 29 kişiden oluşan sınıf ise deney grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Kontrol grubunda 5E öğretim modeli, deney grubunda ise Algodoo ile desteklenen 5E öğretim modeli uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada uygulama öncesinde Algodoo yazılım programının tanıtımı ve kullanım eğitimi verilmiştir. Uygulama öncesinde ön testler uygulanmış, uygulama 6 hafta sürmüştür. Veri toplama aracı olarak Işık Ünitesi Akademik Başarı Testi ve Fen Öğrenmeye Yönelik Motivasyon Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde iki bağımsız grup arasında puanları açısından fark olup olmadığını belirlemek için Bağımsız Örneklemler t-Testi, eğitim öncesi ve sonrası her bir grubun akademik başarısının kendi içerisinde değerlendirilmesi için ise Eşleştirilmiş Örneklem t-Testi (Paired Samples t-Test) uygulanıp, p < 0,05 düzeyi anlamlı olarak kabul edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi SPSS 17.0 paket programı kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara göre Işık Ünitesi Akademik Başarı Testinde kontrol ve deney gruplarının puanları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlarda Algodoo yazılımı ile desteklenen 5E öğretim modelinin öğrencilerin akademik başarılarına anlamlı bir etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Her iki grupta da öğrencilerin Fen Bilimleri dersine karşı motivasyonlarının yüksek seviyede olduğu görülmüş olup, Fen Öğrenmeye Yönelik Motivasyon Ölçeğinde kontrol ve deney grupları arasında anlamlı bir fark görülmemiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları, Algodoo yazılım programının Fen Bilimleri dersinin soyut kavramlı konularında kullanılmasının, konuların anlaşılmasını kolaylaştırarak akademik başarıyı arttırabileceğini göstermektedir.

In this research, it is aimed to determine the effect of 5E educational model supported by Algodoo software in the Light Unit of 7th grade Science lesson on academic achievement and motivation of students. In the research, the quasi-experimental design, including Pre-test and post-test control group, was used. The sample of the research comprises of a total of 52 seventh grade students in a public secondary school in Çayırova district in Kocaeli province. By means of unbiased selection, the class of 23 students was determined as the control group and the class of 29 students was determined as the experimental group. 5E educational model and 5E educational model supported by Algodoo has been applied in the control group and in the experimental group, respectively. Introduction and training of Algodoo software program were given prior to application in research. Preliminary tests were performed before the implementation which has lasted six weeks. Academic Achievement Test and Motivation Test have been used as a data collection device. In the analysis of the data, Independent Samples t-Test was used to determine whether there was a difference between the two independent groups in terms of their scores, and Paired Samples t-Test was used to evaluate the academic success of each group before and after the education. Moreover p < 0,05 level has been accepted as meaningful. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 package program. According to the results of research, a significant difference was found between the control and experimental groups in favor of the experimental group in Academic Achievement Test in the Light Unit. The results of the study showed that the 5E educational model supported by Algodoo software had a significant effect on the academic achievement of the students. In both groups, students' motivation towards Science course was found to be high. Moreover there is no significant difference between the control and experimental groups in the Motivation Scale towards Learning Science. The results of this research show that the use of Algodoo software program in abstract subjects of Science course can increase the academic success by facilitating understanding of the subjects.
