The study of Prophetic traditions is considered a type of procedure which serves to complement and explain Islamic Sharia in second detail. That is why 'Hadiths' have received a great deal of attention from Islamic scholars, who have classified and graded them from 'authentic' ( i.e. capable of being traced back to the Prophet), to 'fairly authentic', to 'weak'. They have also written numerous books on them, such as El-Sihah, El-Jurh and El-Taadeel, the purpose of which is to rank every tradition according to its level of authenticity. This study aimed at gathering the traditions included in the works of the four authors of 'El-Sunen' and at introducing the authors themselves, namely, El-Nasaai, Ibn Maja, El-Turmuzi and Abu Daaud in order to enable the reader to access and make use of these Hadths. It also aimed at ranking, organizing and placing the traditions in the appropriate chapters in accordance with the approaches adopted by the authors of ElSunen. The study also aimed at explaining the science of Hadiths and the strangeness of weak versions. The study has adopted the descriptive, inductive, and deductive methods, and has arrived at several conclusions, the most important of which are the following: There are 150 traditions which are all included in each of the four source books called El-Sunen, but which are not found in either of the two sources written by El-Bukhari and Muslim. In addition, we sometimes find that the same tradition is included in all four source books but in differing versions, and the same author can also repeat the same tradition in differing versions. Moreover, the 150 traditions aforementioned are also found in other books, namely, El-Sihah , ElMasaneed, and El-Maajim. It can also be noticed that the authors of El-Sunen must have been careful and accurate in copying the exact words forming the texts stated by the Prophet (peace be upon him) and in correcting faulty texts. In addition, Imam El-Bukhari edited some of the traditions contained in ElSunen without naming the individuals who had copied them from the Prophet ; these traditions are, therefore, classified as 'suspended' . The study has recommended undertaking separate studies on the individuals from whom the four authors copied some of the traditions and whose capacity has come under criticism . The study has also recommended conducting studies on the traditions included in El-Sunen, but not found in the source books of ElSaheehein; it has also recommended studying the four authors' approaches to the classification, organization, and judgment on the weakness of Hadiths.
