Özet
Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı 5. sınıf göçmen öğrencilere, sosyal bilgiler dersi etkin vatandaşlık ünitesi kapsamında verilen vatandaşlık eğitiminin, vatandaşlık bilinç düzeyleri üzerine etkisini ölçmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Yöntem: Araştırmada nicel ve nitel yöntemler bir arada kullanılarak veriler toplanıp çözümlenmiştir. Nitel ve nicel yöntemlerle veri toplama, analiz etme ve bütünleştirmeye olanak sağlayan araştırmalara karma (mixed) yöntem araştırmaları denir (Yıldırım & Şimşek, 2018, s. 322). Çalışmamızda açıklayıcı sıralı desen kullanılmıştır. Bu desenin en güçlü yönü araştırmanın nicel ve nitel veri toplama işlerinin birbiri üzerine inşa edilmesi ve kolay anlaşılmasıdır (Creswel, 2017, s. 39). Nicel verilerin toplanmasında yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Nitel verilerin toplanmasında ise durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Deney ve kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin, cinsiyet ve yaşa göre aralarında fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Deney ve kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin eğitim öncesi, vatandaşlık bilinç ölçeği toplam puanından aldıkları ön test puanları bakımından aralarında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Son test puanlarına göre ise, deney grubu ve kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin eğitim sonrası vatandaşlık bilinç ölçeği toplam puanı bakımından aralarında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir fark olduğu görülmüştür. Böylece verilen vatandaşlık eğitiminin deney gurubu üzerinde faydalı olduğu, söylenebilir. Bununla birlikte kontrol grubundaki öğrencilere ise bu eğitimi almadıkları için vatandaşlık bilinç düzeylerinde herhangi bir değişiklik olmamıştır. Sonuç: Sonuç olarak nicel ve nitel veriler birleştirilerek yapılan veri analiz sonuçlarına göre, sosyal bilgiler dersi etkin vatandaşlık ünitesinin 5.sınıf göçmen öğrencilerin bilinç düzeyleri üzerine etkili olduğu, yani öğrencilerin vatandaşlık bilinç düzeylerini olumlu yönde etkilendiği ve arttırdığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to measure the effect of citizenship education given to 5th grade immigrant students within the scope of effective citizenship unit of social studies lesson on citizenship awareness levels. Method: In the research, quantitative and qualitative methods were used together and data were collected and analyzed. Studies that allow data collection, analysis and integration with qualitative and quantitative methods are called mixed method researches (Yıldırım & Şimşek, 2018, p. 322). In our study, descriptive sequential pattern was used. The strongest aspect of this pattern is that quantitative and qualitative data collection works of the research are built on each other and easy to understand (Creswel, 2017, p. 39). A quasi-experimental design was used to collect quantitative data. The case study design was used to collect qualitative data. Findings: It was observed that the students in the experimental and control groups did not differ by gender and age. It was observed that there was no significant difference between the students in the experimental and control groups in terms of the pretest scores obtained from the total score of citizenship awareness scale before education. According to the post-test scores, it was seen that there was a significant difference between the students in the experimental group and the control group in terms of the total score of citizenship awareness scale after education. Thus, it can be said that the citizenship education provided is useful on the experimental group. However, since the students in the control group did not receive this education, there was no change in their level of citizenship awareness. Result: As a result, according to the results of data analysis made by combining quantitative and qualitative data, it was concluded that the social studies course effective citizenship unit is effective on the consciousness levels of 5th grade immigrant students, that is, it positively affects and increases the level of citizenship awareness.
