IV SUMMARY Ottoman Empire was talk abaout not only with its military and political power but also with its own architectural characteristics in 16th century. Western culture and the idea of adaptation of European practices emerged with the chage in the world balances while coming to 19th century. First of all,ideal foundation of adaptation of European practices was estabilished due to immediate military defeats and economic and political correlation and then the desire of envying to Europe was reflected also to our arcitectural. Therefore,not only style was brougt but also personnely architecturs were invited and European style arcitectural was tried to be reflekted. Especially European style arcitectural was seen mostly in Ottoman palaces since it was derranded by padişah. Therfore Yıldız Palace which is one of the formal palaces of that period appers as a complex which is obtained from joining the European style arcitectural and the construction material of that period with Ottoman style settlement scheme.When the buildings are analysed one by one,it can be seen that Yıldız Palace by carnying the some characteristic of Topkapi Palace while concerning its settlement reflects all trends and materials which had affected our 19th century arcitectural. Cariyeler Dairesi,has been started to restore in 1993, both reflects the traditional building arcitectural throughout its plan scheme and is seen as one of the examples which reflects the features the adaptation of European practices period even if the materials,in which had been used,are consiedered. The materials which have been used as covers for wall and ground in wooden sheleton constructions,that are built on brick construction groun floor,are so importand due to reflekting the technology of contruction materials belorged to that period These materials are constituted from the compression of both chip board and phenol phormaldehit with pressure. Today mdfTMedium Density Fireboard) also has the some faetures with that period materials.One hind of this material which is like mortar has been used as a ground cover. Both wooden parts and brick constructed parts of the building which was deteriorated with the water coming from the roof affected from the moisture.The effect of mouisture cousedV corking and knot hole.This problem affected not only the building bearing system but also thin construction elements. its a condusion,it is recommended that the restoration project should be prepared and the works should be continued at this direction by considering the proper functions for the building. At this frame work,these proper fonctions can be provided on the ground for seminars,to present the traditional hand arts,and for mini concerts in order to introduce the building efficiently.Therfore the building is brought up to date with to help of these functions.Preliminary the building the bareing system should be consolideted,then the repairmend and revitalization of construction elements should be accepted as prior principle.
