This thesis seeks to demonstrate particular advantages and inadequacies of the legal legislation and its implementation in the UK regarding employees' freedom of religion and right to protection from religious discrimination. To this end, this thesis first examines religious intolerance and discrimination in the workplace by using statistics and examples in order to show even though the legal protection was introduced more than a decade, experiences of discrimination on grounds of religion or belief are commonplace. Then it moves to examine statutory and case law in the UK in terms of their effectiveness and sufficiency to prevent religious discrimination in the workplace. The final chapter is only allocated to recommendations. It suggests that the only way to increase the level of protection of religious rights in the workplace is to accommodate religious rights in the workplace.
