Özet
Bu araştırma, ortaokul yedinci sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersine yönelik motivasyonları ile derse yönelik tutumları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemeye yönelik ilişkisel tarama modeline dayalı bir çalışmadır. Araştırmada öğrencilerin, sosyal bilgiler dersine yönelik motivasyonları ve derse yönelik tutumlarına ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiş, bu iki değişkenin öğrencilerin bazı demografik özelliklerine göre farklılaşma durumları ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim yılında Gaziantep ili Nizip ilçesinin merkez ortaokullarında öğrenim gören yedinci sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden maksimum çeşitlilik örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak belirlenen ve evrende yer alan 14 ortaokulda öğrenim gören 980 yedinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Verilerinin toplanmasında, veri toplama aracı olarak“Kişisel Bilgi Formu”,“Sosyal Bilgiler Tutum Ölçeği”ve“Sosyal Bilgiler Motivasyon Ölçeği”kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler SPSS 17.0 paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersine yönelik motivasyonları ve sosyal bilgiler dersine yönelik tutum puanları arasındaki çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi bulgularına göre sosyal bilgiler motivasyon faktörlerinin sosyal bilgiler dersi tutum düzeyini yordama gücü istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Motivasyon alt faktörlerinin (İçsel Motivasyon, Önemseme ve Dışsal Motivasyon) sosyal bilgiler tutum puanlarının %37'sini açıkladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarından hareketle öğrencilerin sosyal bilgiler dersine yönelik motivasyonlarının hangi nedenlere bağlı değişiklik gösterdiği ortaya konup ders motivasyonunu artırıcı etkinlikler düzenlenebileceği, motivasyon ve tutumun akademik başarı üzerindeki etkisi düşünülerek sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin görev yaptıkları kurumlardaki rehberlik servisi ile işbirliği içinde çalışmaları başarıyı arttırabileceği önerileri getirilmiştir.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the motivation of the seventh grade secondary school students towards the social studies course and their attitudes towards the course, based on the relational survey model. In the study, the motivations of the students towards the social studies course and their attitudes towards the course were examined, and the differentiation of these two variables was tried to be revealed in terms of some demographic characteristics of the students. The study population consists of seventh grade students, studying in the central secondary schools of Nizip, which is district of Gaziantep, in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study is composed of 980 seventh grade students who study in 14 secondary schools in the research group, which was determined by using the maximum diversity sampling method, one of the purposive sampling methods.“Personal Information Form”,“Social Studies Attitude Scale”and“Social Studies Motivation Scale”have been used as data acquisition tools. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 package program. As a result of the research, according to the findings of multiple linear regression analysis between students' motivation towards the social studies lesson and their attitude scores towards the social studies lesson, the power of social studies motivation factors to predict the social studies lesson attitude level was found to be statistically significant. It was concluded that motivation sub-factors (Intrinsic Motivation, Caring, and Extrinsic Motivation) together explained of social studies attitude scores. According to the results of the research, one can say that, to increase the motivation for the Social Studies classes we can organize activities considering how the students' motivation for the mentioned classes varies; also looking at the effect of motivation and attitude over the academic success, it is offered that social studies teachers may collaborate with the counseling services at their working places.
