Özet (Çeviri)
A history of early childhood trauma holds a prevalent transdiagnostic construction in many psychiatric groups. Research shows that childhood trauma is associated with diathesis to numerous mental disorders and subclinical conditions. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depressive disorder (MDD), and somatic symptom disorder (SSD) constitute instances to conditions of which childhood trauma history appears to be of importance amongst factors increasing the risk. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between early childhood adversities and social threat sensitivity, a common condition in which persons undergo emotional, cognitive, physiological, and behavioural set of hyperreactions towards socially threatening stimuli. A total of 103 individuals in four experimental groups (SSD group, PTSD group, MDD group, and a healthy control group) participated in the study. Participants were pre-assessed by several diagnostic interviews through which their childhood trauma history was incorporated. We implemented an emotion classification paradigm to test distinctive patterns in behavioural response measures (accuracy and response latency) and eye-tracking dependencies (fixation/dwell time, initial saccade onset, and proportion of initial saccade) within and across groups. Results revealed that any kinds of childhood adversities (emotional, sexual, and physical abuse and emotional and physical neglect) were linked to abnormalities in recognition of anger and fear-laden facial expressions, generally reflected itself as distinctive properties in accuracy, response latency, proportion of initial saccades, and initial saccade latency. Furthermore, difficulties in emotion regulation, a common subclinical phenomenon in individuals with early childhood adversities, were associated with aberrant processing of threat-related emotional expressions. Analyses to assess group differences also indicated abnormal processing of emotional expressions particularly for PTSD and MDD. As a conclusion, this study suggests that early childhood adversities are iii prevalent amongst people with PTSD, SSD, and MDD and implies that a history of childhood trauma is aetiologically relevant to comprehend the abnormalities in the processing of socially threatening information.
