Özet

Tezin amacı, Oyun filmi bağlamında, kimlik ve toplumsal cinsiyet kavramlarını eleştirel bir bakış açısı ile irdelemektir. Türkiye' de, bireylerin üstüne yüklenen kimlik ve toplumsal cinsiyet kavramlarına odaklanarak, Ali ve Ayşe karakterinin, kendi kapalı dünyalarında, toplumsal cinsiyet normlarını yıkmaya başlaması ile yaşadıkları özgürleşme sürecinin gösterilmesi hedeflenmektedir. Oyun filminde, sinema sanatının gücü kullanılarak, toplumsal cinsiyet kavramına yönelik bir farkındalık yaratılmaya çalışılmıştır. Filmin ana karakterleri olan Ali ve Ayşe' nin yaşadığı değişim sürecinden yola çıkarak,“peki ya sen istediğin hayatı yaşıyor musun?”sorusunu, seyircinin kendisine yöneltmesi hedeflenmektedir. Belirlenen bu amaçlar doğrultusunda, tez çalışması; kuramsal bölüm ve uygulama olmak üzere iki bölümden meydana gelmektedir. Kuramsal birinci alt bölümde; kimlik kavramına ve toplumsal cinsiyet kimliklerine genel bir bakış yer almaktadır. Kimlik kavramı çeşitli yaklaşımlar ile açıklandıktan sonra, psikolojik ve sosyolojik kimlik olarak ayrı ayrı değerlendirilmiş, bireysel, sosyal ve kolektif kimlik tanımlamalarına yer verilmiştir. Birinci alt bölümün ikinci kısmında ise; cinsiyet ve toplumsal cinsiyet kavramları yer almaktadır. Bu bölümde; cinsel yönelim ve cinsiyet kimliklerine değinildikten sonra, queer kuramı değerlendirilmiştir. Kuramsal bölümün ikinci kısmında ise; Dünya ve Türk sinemasında toplumsal cinsiyet kavramını ele alan seçili filmler değerlendirilmiştir. Oyun filminin ele aldığı kavramların eleştirel tutumuna yakın anlatımı olduğu düşünülen, Atıf Yılmaz'ın Mine (1982), Nadine Labaki' nin, Sukkar Banat (Karamel-2007) filmleri örneklem olarak seçilmiş, bu filmler, kimlik ve toplumsal cinsiyet kavramları bakımından değerlendirilmiştir. Tez çalışmasının uygulama bölümünde ise; Oyun filminin üretim sürecine değinilmiştir. Bu noktada, filmin sinopsisi, tretmanı, çekim senaryosu ve yapılış aşamalarına değinilerek, filmin sanatsal düşüncesi, toplumsal cinsiyet kavramı çerçevesinde analizi, estetik yaklaşımı ve teknik bilgileri açıklanmıştır. Çalışmanın eseri olan Oyun filminde; internette seyrettiği bir video sonrası, Ayşe karakterinin yaşam biçiminde başlayan değişimine, sevgilisi Ali' nin de ayak uydurması sonrası gerçekleşen durumların, kimlik ve toplumsal cinsiyet kavramları üzerinden gösterilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Amaç, seyirci üzerinde bir farkındalık yaratmak ve seyirciyi filmde yaşanan sürece dahil ederek, kendi hayatını sorgular duruma getirmektir.

This thesis examines the notions of identity and gender from a critical perspective within the context of the movie Oyun (The Game). Focusing on the notions of identity and social gender imposed on individuals by the society in Turkey, the aim is to demonstrate the process of becoming free while the main characters named Ali and Ayşe break the norms of social gender in their own closed-off world. In a way, the movie Oyun (The Game) puts effort into raising awareness on the notion of social gender by using the power of cinematic arts. Judging by the process of change the main characters of the movie, Ali and Ayşe, go through, the aim is to make the audience question whether they are able to live the life they want. With this purpose in mind, this study includes two main parts as theoretical part and the practice. The first theoretical subchapter handles a general overview of identity as a notion and gender identity. The notion of identity is explained with various approaches, handled separately as psychological and sociological identity, covering the definitions of individual, social and collective identity. In the second part of the first theoretical subchapter, notions of gender and social gender take place where we first address to sexual orientation and gender identity, then evaluate the Queer theory. In the second part of the theoretical chapter, selected movies, which deal with the notion of gender in both world and turkish cinemas, are evaluated. Thinking that they have a similar narration in terms of critical approach to the notions handled in the movie Oyun, the movies Mine (1982) by Atıf Yılmaz and Sukkar Banat (Karamel-2007) by Nadine Labaki are selected as equivalent samples and evaluated in terms of the notions of identity and gender. In the practice part of this study, production process of the movie Oyun is covered by dealing with the synopsis, treatment, shooting script and stages of production and explaining its aesthetical approach, technical details and its analysis within the scope of the movie's artistic idea and the notion of gender. In the movie Oyun, which is the selected work for this study, the character named Ayşe watches a video on the internet, then goes through changes in her lifestyle and her boyfriend Ali keeps up with those changes. Therefore the objective is to demonstrate these unfolding situations, caused by lifestyle changes of the characters, through the notions of identity and gender, with the aim of including the audience in the process experienced in the movie and raising awareness to make them question their own lives.
