Master of Arts (Business Administration), June, 2018, FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie & Management, Düsseldorf, Nord Rhine – Westphalia, Germany The foreign market entry is the most critical stage of cross-border business expansion. Therefore, it is important to examine cases of internationalization of parent enterprises from Turkey into Germany through acquisitions in order to demonstrate to the companies from Turkey the opportunities offered to them by this selection and show them related challenges. Qualitative data for the analysis of the empirical study of this research were collected through five telephone interviews done with officials of five different companies from Turkey that have expanded their business into Nord Rhine - Westphalia through acquisitions. To identify similarities between the respondents, after each interview the researcher presented keywords from the interviews in spreadsheets and summarized the empirical data collected. According to the findings of this study, the acquired companies' localness, business networks and long-standing sectoral experience are factors motivating the parent enterprises for acquisitions. The potential market entrants to Germany from Turkey that are considering expanding their business through acquisition must keep in mind that there are big differences between the corporate cultures of average companies from the two countries. Moreover, it is important for the acquiring companies from Turkey to know how the bankruptcy procedures function in Germany. The continuous employment cost of the personnel transferred from the acquired company may even be the biggest cost item for the acquiring company considering the costs derived from acquisition. On the other hand, in Germany there are several difficulties in recruiting qualified personnel in areas, which are relatively small and distant to large centers.
