Sight distance consistency explains the relation between motor vehicle driver's expectancy and highway geometric design for sight distance conditions as a result of road traffic crashes. Previously, many sight distance and road safety researches had been studied, and road traffic crashes is commonly understood as a result of sight distance inconsistency. This study aims to show the sight distance consistency and road casualty relationship based on traffic crash records. Site was determined as A686 and A69 single rural carriageways in England and these two roads were compared among. A686 is one of the high risk casualty classified road; conversely, A69 is carrying less casualty risk in England. Additionally, last 6 years accident records were gathered from Stat 19 Great Britain Road Casualty Reports. Geometric design parameters of A686 and A69 were figured out by using AutoCAD 2012 and 12D Model engineering software programs; afterwards, sight distance was calculated along the horizontal road alignment. Besides these theoretical data, actual sight distance of a driver was recorded during site visit study. All in all, A686 and A69 were compared by measured sight distance to illustrate the difference of accident risk between these two rural single carriageways. Then A686 was analysed second time and sight distance inconsistency problems were figured out by using Road Traffic Crash Records.
