Özet
Bu çalışma, George Orwell'in 1984 romanında ve Aldous Huxley'in Brave New World romanında tanımlanan hegemonya kavramını uygulamak için otoriter hükümetlerin kullandığı mekanizmayı araştırıyor.
The current study sheds light on how hegemony applies in George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World by authoritarian governments to society to avoid class struggle. In this regard, this thesis is based on Marxist literary theory and Gramsci's concept of hegemony to analyze the mechanism of the ruling class in establishing a dystopian society by influencing mass consciousness. However, the authors attempt in their novels to describe the suffering of communities living under the ruling class's oppression and how the regime controls every aspect of people's lives through the use of technology and ideological means. Furthermore, The second objective of this thesis is to discuss how governmental institutions have an essential role in civil and political society for the survival and sustainability of the hegemonic regime in society through the use of technological and ideological development. Finally, this study focuses on the types of conflicts that arise due to the ruling class's dominance over society, which leads to creat a dystopian society captive by fear, marginalization, and the absence of freedoms.
