THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOTIVATION AND TURNOVER Keyvords : Motivation, turnover. ABSTRACT Motivation has an interrelation with the advancement of the productivity level in firms. The meaning of the motivation is used as it depends generally on the two elements by them: First is the behaviours' and the attitudes' being the aid in the accomplishment of individual's aims; and the second is the supplement of that attitude and tendency by external factors when they are interrelated with action. The firms always concern with their employees after employing them. The ability to be interested in and to concern with in a correct way can be achieved only by using the scientific methods. Even the technological possibilities of the firms ae improved so much, the importance of the human factor will still be great. For this reason, managers must get people willing to be able to work effectively and efficiently, and to cause to the firm's maximum output mat can be gained from investments. This can be achieved through motivation. The increase in the achievements and the effectiveness of employees can only be possible when they like their jobs. Employees doing their jobs with enjoy feel“internal satisfaction”. On the other hand, the monetary elements, rewards, and status granted to employees by managers cause them to feel“external satisfaction”. Today, in the base of the succesful application of the total quality management of firm, the systems improving and keeping in front the humanfactor like motivating and supervising the employees, training to inrease the knowledge and the skill levels, rotation, job enrichment He. The successful application of the total quality management can be achieved through the participation of employees. For the participation, precautions, increasing the motivation, must be taken. If the motivation is supported by the continuous training, great success will be gained from participation. Motivation theories are divided into two as“content teories”and“process theories”. Content theorists had investigated the factors affecting the motivation and the things and the reaons motivating employees. Process therist had investigated what made the employess motivated, and which precautions need which process. The reasons of the turnover Physical reasons ( dying, imigration, ilness, being retired ) Physccolgical reasons are divided into two groups, called lack of motivation and unsatisf action. IllThe reasons of employees' s feeling unsaisf action about their jobs are: Working conditions (heaviress of the job, shortage of tim, etc.) Personal chaacteristics The manner of managing Manegers must know the motivation and job satisfaction subjects well. The ability of the application of of these subjects by the managers in their firms comes true by their attribution to group focused activities and by a new leadership understanding. The construction of the needs of the quality factor in the firms causes them to have a saund employee turnover. To decrease the employee turnover is not the aim of the firm. It's the natural result of appliation of a good administration and motivation. IV
