ABSTRACT This study offers the research of the impacts of natinal interest perceptions on the foreign policy-making of Germany during the long time from the German Union(1871) to German Unification(1990). We are interested in the role of national interest perceptions in the forming of German foreign policies in different times. Foreign policy-making is a comprehensive and complex process and offers the result of complicated reconciliation of different approaches shaping under the influence of national interest perceptions towards the definite objective. Thus in this study we try to analyse the impacts of national interest perceptions in shaping of foreign policies in different phases of German history. Germany is an interesting example of the nation-state which had experienced different forms of political regimes: monarchy, democratic republic, totalitarian dictatorship, military occupation, division into twoseparate states, federal republic and unification into a single federal state. All of these periods offer appropriate orientations and priorities in foreign policy which are formed under the impact of the national interest perceptions communsurate with the definite period of time. The subject is especially interesting in view of understanding the behaviour of Germany - this important actor in world politics. Germany had contributed much to development of international system. Still Germany is a great factor in world affairs and would remain this position in the next century.
