The advancement of modern technologies and mass manufacturing processes introduced by the First Industrial Revolution two centuries ago determined the loss of traditional manufacturing methods with hands, leading to the deterioration of artisan skills. The new industrial revolution named Industrie 4.0 brought significant change to the manufacturing domain. Big data exchange and systems such as cyber-physical provided efficiency that replaced the need for human labour. In addition, the tools provided by digital innovations open up a field full of opportunities in the field of creativity and craftsmanship. That been said, Industrie 4.0 provides a theoretical and practical basis for reconciling“craftsmanship”with digital fabrication. The concept of the study was born from craftsmanship, which has a complex dynamic meaning that adapts to changing circumstances or to different eras. Thesis seek to understand the importance and value of craftsmanship and innovative ways to implement this to the emerging Industrie 4.0. The study explores craftsmanship and digital fabrication and its intersections. The thesis seeks to find whether the valuable skills and common wealth of arts and crafts that are lost in the urban development process can be recovered and to promote center for craftsmanship which would be relevant to 21st century
