Özet

Çalışmanın amaçları, sohbet botu kullanımının bir yabancı dil Fransızca sınıfındaki etkilerinin ölçülmesi, otonom öğrenene has özellikler gözetilerek, hangi otonomi bileşeninde ne gibi değişiklikler olduğunun saptanması ve hedef dile maruz kalma olasılığının düşük olduğu ülkelerde hedef dil kullanıcısı ile olan iletişim eksiğini giderip gideremeyeceğinin saptanmasıdır. Bu amaçla, karar ağacı mekanizması kuralına uygun olacak şekilde, OBM (Tamamlayıcı cilt) referans alarak, B1+ dil seviyesini hedefleyen toplamda sekiz tane sohbet botu oluşturulmuştur. Çalışmanın araştırma desenleri, karma araştırma desenlerden teknoloji geliştirme araştırması ve zaman serisi modelidir. Araştırma örneklemi Anadolu Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Fransızca Öğretmenliği Bölümü öğrencileri arasından, lisans programı birinci sınıf bahar dönemi derslerinden biri olan Yazma Becerisi II dersini, 2021-2022 akademik yılının bahar döneminde seçen öğrenciler arasından seçilmiş ve B1+ dil seviyesi ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular ışığında, sohbet botlarının Yabancı Dil Fransızca öğrencileri üzerinde, yazma becerisinin geliştirilmesinde önemli etkileri olduğu, dilsel otonomilerinin gelişmesinde önemli katkıları olduğu ve birtakım sınırlılıkları olsa bile iletişime geçilebilecek bir hedef dil kullanıcısı eksikliğini giderdiği tespit edilmiştir.

The current study primarily aims to measure the effects of chatbot use in a French foreign language classroom to teach written expressions and considering the characteristics specific to autonomous learners it aims to find out what changes occur in which autonomy component and investigates whether it can overcome the lack of communication with the target language users in the countries where the probability of the target language exposure is low. For these purposes, in accordance with the decision-tree-based mechanism, a total of eight chatbots targeting B1+ language level were created with reference to the complementary volume of the CEFR (2020). Technology development research and the chronological model from the mixed research designs were chosen as the research design. The research was carried out during the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year and was limited to the B1+ learners of the French Language Teaching Department of Education Faculty, Anadolu University who took the Writing II course in their first year. The participants of the study were determined using the purposeful sampling technique. The findings of the research show that chatbots have important effects on French Foreign Language learners in the development of their writing skills and contribute to their linguistic autonomy. The study also suggests that chatbots can eliminate the lack of a target language user to communicate despite the limitations they have.
