Özet
— Some challenges with the construction of local oscillators have prompted research on subharmonic mixers, especially for THz systems. Another critical factor in their favour is the expense and ineffectiveness of Intermediate Frequency filtering in the fundamental mixer structure for THz systems. This study used a virtual environment to examine the suggested second order (m=2) subharmonic mixer's microstrip mixer architecture. Then, in this m=2 design, the same mixer is transformed into a fourth order (m=4) sub-harmonic mixer by combining two Branch-Line Hybrid Designs; the microstrip mixer designs are described as a virtual mixer component, and conversion loss is taken into account. Following the verification of the design analysis, it was intended to move forward with the implementation of such mixers based on quantum barrier devices in fin-line circuits, which are easier to mount in low-loss rectangular waveguide mixers for usage at sub-millimetre wave frequencies.
