The effect of migraine on executive functioning have been studied extensively yet the most studies on this issue have failed to find consistent results or to control the frequent psychological co-morbidities of depression and anxiety. None of studies have used Behavioural Rating Inventory of Executive function (BRIEF-A) for adults diagnosed with migraine to examine the effect of the disorder on their executive functioning in daily life. Thus, the current study aimed to explore to what extent migraine have an impact over executive functioning in everyday life by administering BRIEF-A and further examining the effect of the disorder on a range of experimental tasks while controlling the confounders. A total 84 age-matched adult participants with migraine and without migraine participated in the study. Compared to controls, migraineurs reported experiencing more executive functionrelated problems in their daily lives. These involved metacognitive abilities in which planning and organization are more problematic. They were not in relation to behavioural/emotional regulatory system. Migraineurs showed impaired executive dysfunctional performances in some experimental tasks, but not in all. The findings suggest that migraine-related problems affect everyday life experiences on the circumstances; also, that, executive dysfunction exists in adults with migraine across some experimental tasks.
