Özet
Osmanlı Devleti, 18. yüzyılın son çeyreğinde Çeşme'de meydana gelen baskın sonucunda donanmasını neredeyse tamamen kaybetti. Olaydan sonra Osmanlı tersaneleri üzerine reform çalışmaları başlandı ve III. Selim'in tahta geçmesiyle (1789) beraber söz konusu reform çalışmalarının yoğunluğu arttı. Bu yoğunluk sırasında, Osmanlı savaş gemileri arasında yeni yeni boy gösteren fırkateyn türü gemilerin inşası da yoğun bir şekilde yürütülmüştür. Dolayısıyla III. Selim hükümdarlığında fırkateyn inşa faaliyetleri Kaptanıderya Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa'nın son dönemi ve Küçük Hüseyin Paşa'nın ilk dönemi arasındaki zaman diliminde de devam etmiştir. Bu tezde, Sultan III. Selim'in saltanatı boyunca söz konusu gemi türünün inşa faaliyetlerini mercek altına almaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma giriş ve iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde III. Selim dönemine kadar Osmanlı donanması hakkında genel bilgiler verildikten sonra donanmada kullanılan gemi türlerine kısaca değinilmektedir. Birinci bölümde fırkateynlerin ilk ortaya çıkışları, inşa edildikleri tersaneler, gemi inşasında çalışanlar, gemi inşa masrafları, inşa süresi ve gemilere isim verilmesi konuları incelenmektedir. İkinci bölümde ise çalışmanın temelini oluşturan gemi türünün inşa malzemeleri hakkında teferruatlı bilgiler ortaya konmaya çalışılmaktadır.

Ottoman Empire, as a result of the raid that occurred in Cesme in the last quarter of the century in he almost completely lost his navy. During this intensity, the Ottoman war the construction of newly emerging frigate type ships among the ships is also intense was being carried out. The frigate construction activities during Selim III period, mainly in the last days of the Admiralty of Algerian Gazi Hasan Pasha It was carried out by Küçük Hüseyin Pasha, who was later appointed to replace him. It continued during the time of the Capitan Pasha. In this study, during the reign of Sultan Selim III, the ship in question it is aimed to examine the construction activities of the type. The study consists of an introduction and two parts. In the introduction, after giving general information about the Ottoman navy until the Selim period, the types of ships used in the navy are briefly mentioned. In the first chapter, the first appearance of frigates, the shipyards where they were built, shipbuilding workers, shipbuilding costs, construction time and naming the ships are examined. In the second part, detailed information about the construction materials of the ship type, which forms the basis of the study, is tried to be revealed.
