Özet
Ülkemizin sahip olduğu jeolojik, jeomorfolojik ve iklimsel çeşitlilik yaşanılan afetlerin farklılık göstermesine sebep olmaktadır. Farklı türdeki afetler ise farklı risklere yol açmaktadır. Bu da her afet türü için risk çalışmalarını zorunlu kılmaktadır. Afet risklerine karşı bilinçli bireyler yetiştirilmesi, risklere karşı farkındalığın oluşması ise ancak eğitimle sağlanabilir. Bu çalışmada Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) destekli Coğrafya eğitiminin afet riskini azaltmadaki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışma alanı olarak belirlenen Muğla ili Fethiye ilçesine ait afet risk haritaları ArcGIS 10.8 programında oluşturularak Coğrafya dersinde eğitim materyali olarak kullanılmıştır. Böylece öğrencilerin yaşadıkları çevrede risk oluşturan afetleri tanımaları ve bu afetlerin neden risk oluşturduklarını coğrafi faktörlerle ilişkilendirerek, olası bir afette doğabilecek risklere karşın farkındalık kazanmaları amaçlanmıştır. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için Fethiye ilçesinde 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında öğrenim gören basit tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiş 193 öğrenci ile beş hafta boyunca eğitim gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden deneysel desende ön test-son test kontrol gruplu modelde yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Afet Risk Farkındalık Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler SPSS 21 programında t-testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçları CBS destekli coğrafya eğitimi alan bireylerin, afet risklerine ilişkin farkındalıklarında istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir artış olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu çalışma CBS temelli materyaller ile desteklenen Coğrafya eğitiminin, afet risklerini azaltmada etkinliğini ortaya koymaktadır. Afet risk azaltma eğitiminin, öğretimin her kademesinde farklı derslere ve farklı afetlere uyarlanarak geliştirilmesi önerilmektedir.

The geological, geomorphological and climatic diversity in our country leads to variations in the types of disasters experienced. Different types of disasters entail different risks. This makes risk studies compulsory for each type of disaster. Raising conscious individuals againts disaster risk and creating awareness against risks can only be achieved through education. In this study the effect of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) supported geography education on disaster risk reduction was investigated. Disaster risk maps of Fethiye district of Muğla province, which was determined as the study area, were created by ArcGIS 10.8 software and used as educational material in Geography course. Thus, it was aimed for students to recognize the disasters that pose risk with geographical factors. In order to realize this aim, training was carried out for five weeks with 193 students who were determined by simple random sampling method among the students studying in Fethiye district in the 2023-2024 academic year. The research was carried out in the experimental design, which is one of the quantitative research methods, in the pretest-posttest control group model. Disaster Risk Awareness Scale developed by the resarcher was used to collect the data. The data were analyzed with t-test in SPSS 21 program. The results of the analysis showed that there was a statistically significant increase in the awareness of individuals who received GIS based geography education regarding disaster risks. This study reveals the effectiveness of Geography education supported by GIS based materials in reducing disaster risk. It is recommended that disaster risk reduction education should be developed by adapting it to the different courses and different disasters at all levels of education.
