Özet
Bu çalışmanın teması, geleneksel Osmanlı yapılarının belgelenmesidir. Atik Valide yapıları temel alınarak bir cami kompleksinin çeşitli bileşenlerinin analizi ve işlevlerinin tanımlanmasının yanı sıra, hanedan kadınlarının Osmanlı mimarisindeki rolü ve bu mimariyle ilişkileri incelenmektedir. Ayrıca, Atik Valide Külliyesi'nin ayrıntılı bir tanımı, belgelenmesi ve daha önce yapılan ve devam eden restorasyon çalışmaları ele alınmaktadır. Türkiye'deki antik eserlerin korunması ve bakımının yanı sıra mirasın rolü de açıklanmaktadır. Türkiye'deki tarihi eserler yasalarına dayanarak, mevcut yasal çerçevelerin bu kadar büyük bir kompleksi tamamen koruma ve restore etme için yeterli olup olmadığı ve yasaların yorumlanmasının uygulamada nasıl kullanıldığı araştırılmaktadır. Devam eden restorasyon çalışmalarının durumuna dair eleştirel bir analiz de bu incelemeye eklenmiştir. Bu tez çalışmasında, İstanbul'daki yapıların Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü ve Anıtlar Kurumu tarafından tahsis edilen çeşitli restorasyon projelerine ait 100'den fazla eski Osmanlıca dilinde yazılmış kompozisyon, çok sayıda yayınlanmış illüstrasyon ve fotoğraf ile komplekslerin tarihi fotoğrafları kullanılmıştır. Bunların dışında, komplekslerin yeni kullanım olanakları açısından restorasyon çalışmalarının sonuçları görsellerle belgelenmiştir.

Theme of the present work is documenting of the traditional Ottoman buildings. Besides the analysis of the various components of a mosque complex and a description of its functions, based on the investigated buildings Atik Valide, the role of dynastic women and their relationship to the Ottoman architecture is being investigated.Additionally, a detailed description and documentation of the Atik Valide Complex and the previously made and ongoing restoration works are handled. Also the roles of heritage and care and preservation of ancient monuments in Turkey are described. Based on the laws of historical monuments in Turkey it is investigated whether the existing legal frameworks are sufficient to cover such a large complex to fully protect and restore and how the interpretation of laws are used in practice. A critical analysis of the status of the ongoing restoration work is also added to this examination. Over 100 compositions, which were written in ancient ottomanisch language, numerous published illustrations and photographs of the various renovation projects, historical photographs of the complexes which are being allocated by the General Directorate of Foundations for buildings in Istanbul and in the Office of Monuments are used during this thesis endeavour. Except that, the results of restoration work are documented with images in terms of the new utilization opportunities of the complexes.
