Özet
Araştırma, kemoterapi tedavisi gören bireylerin koku ve tat değişikliklerinin, beslenme ve yaşam kalitesi üzerindeki etkisinin incelenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel türde bir çalışma olarak yapıldı. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu Şehir Hastanesi Tıbbi Onkoloji kliniğinde tedavi gören hastalar örneklemini ise 18 yaş üstünde olan, en az üç kür kemoterapi tedavisi almış ve tat/koku bozukluğuna yol açan ilaçlardan herhangi birini almış olan hastalar oluşturdu. Araştırma verileri“Genel Bilgi Formu”,“Tat ve Koku Disfonksiyon Ölçeği”,“Mini Nutrisyonel Değerlendirme Ölçeği”ve“Fonksiyonel Yaşam Kalitesi Değerlendirme Ölçeği”ile toplandı. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programı kullanılarak analiz edildi. Veriler normal dağılım özelliği göstermediği için non-parametrik testler kullanıldı. Verilerin analizinde iki grubun karşılaştırılması için“Mann Whitney U Testi”, üç grubun karşılaştırılmasında“Kruskal-Wallis H Testi”uygulandı. Bağımsız değişkenin, bağımlı değişken üzerindeki etkisini araştırmak için regresyon analizi uygulandı. Tat ve Koku Disfonksiyon ölçeği genel puanı normal nutrisyonlu hastalarda, malnutrisyonlu hastalara göre daha düşük bulunurken tat alt boyutundan alınan puanın malnütrisyon riski olan hastalarda malnutrisyonlu hastalara göre daha düşük olduğu saptandı. Tat ve Koku Disfonksiyon ölçeği genel puanı, tat ve koku alt boyut puanları ağızda kuruluk yaşayanlarda yaşamayanlara göre daha yüksek bulundu. Tat ve Koku Disfonksiyon ölçeği genel puan ve tat alt boyut puanı iştahta azalma yaşayanlarda, yaşamayanlara göre daha yüksek olduğu saptandı. Tat ve Koku Disfonksiyon ölçeği genel puanındaki bir birimlik artış mini nutrisyonel değerlendirme ölçeği genel puanında 0,362 birim azalmaya neden olduğu saptanmıştır. Tat ve Koku Disfonksiyon ölçeği genel puanı ile fonksiyonel yaşam kalitesi değerlendirme ölçeği genel puanı arasında ilişki bulunmamıştır.

This research was conducted as a descriptive and cross-sectional study to examine the impact of taste and smell changes on nutrition and quality of life in individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment. The study population consisted of patients treated at the Medical Oncology Clinic of Istanbul Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital, and the sample included patients over the age of 18 who had received at least three cycles of chemotherapy and had taken one of the medications known to cause taste and smell disorders. Data were collected using the“General Information Form,”“Taste and Smell Dysfunction Scale,”“Mini Nutritional Assessment Scale,”and“Functional Quality of Life Assessment Scale.”The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS software package. Since the data did not show a normal distribution, non-parametric tests were used. The Mann-Whitney U Test was employed for the comparison of two groups, while the Kruskal-Wallis H Test was used for the comparison of three groups. Linear regression analysis was conducted to investigate the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable. The total score of the Taste and Smell Dysfunction Scale was found to be lower in patients with normal nutrition compared to those with malnutrition, while the score from the taste subdimension was found to be lower in patients at risk of malnutrition compared to those with malnutrition. The total score of the Taste and Smell Dysfunction Scale, as well as the taste and smell subdimension scores, were found to be higher in those experiencing dry mouth compared to those who did not. The total score of the Taste and Smell Dysfunction Scale and the taste subdimension score were found to be higher in those experiencing decreased appetite compared to those who did not. An increase of one unit in the total score of the Taste and Smell Dysfunction Scale was found to result in a 0.362 unit decrease in the total score of the Mini Nutritional Assessment Scale. No relationship was found between the total score of the Taste and Smell Dysfunction Scale and the total score of the Functional Quality of Life Assessment Scale.
