Özet
Giriş ve Amaç: Çalışmamızda acil servise epileptik nöbet ile başvuran epilepsi hastalarının serum subfatin düzeylerinin sağlıklı gönüllüler ile karşılaştırılıp, serum subfatin düzeyinin epilepsi hastalığındaki rolünün araştırılması amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tek merkezli ve prospektif olan çalışmamızda epileptik nöbet ile acil servise gelen, 18 yaş ve üzeri, gebe olmayan kadınlar ile erkekler dahil edildi. Çalışmaya dahil edilen hastaların yaş, cinsiyet, boy, ağırlık, vücut kitle indeksi ve ek hastalıkları gibi veriler kaydedildi. Her hastadan 3 cc kan örneği alındı ve 3000 rpm'de 20 dakika santrifüj edilip eppendorf tüplerine konup çalışma gününe kadar -80°C'de saklandı. Serum subfatin düzeyleri enzyme linked-immunosorbent assay yöntemiyle ölçüldü. Bulgular: Çalışmaya kriterleri karşılayan 132'si hasta ve 131'i kontrol grup olmak üzere toplam 263 gönüllü dahil edildi. Hasta grubunun serum subfatin düzeyi kontrol gruba göre anlamlı düşük olarak saptandı (p<0,001). Son 30, 90 ve 180 gün içerisinde nöbet geçirme durumu ile serum subfatin düzeyleri karşılaştırıldığında sadece son 180 gün içinde nöbet geçirenlerin serum subfatin düzeyleri nöbet geçirmeyenlere göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düşük saptandı (p=0,005) Sonuç: Epilepsi hastalarında serum subfatin düzeyleri anlamlı derecede düşük olarak saptandı. Son 6 ay içinde nöbet geçiren hastalarda da anlamlı düşük saptandı.

Introduction and Objective: In our study, we aimed to compare the serum subfatin levels of epilepsy patients presenting to the emergency department with epileptic seizures with healthy volunteers and to investigate the role of serum subfatin levels in epilepsy. Materials and Methods: In our single-center and prospective study, men and non-pregnant women who were older than 18 years and came to the emergency department with epileptic seizures were included. Data such as age, sex, height, weight, body mass index, and co-morbidities of the patients enrolled in the study were collected. A 3 cc blood sample was collected from each patient, centrifuged at 3000 rpm for 20 minutes, placed in Eppendorf tubes and stored at -80°C until the study day. Serum subfatin levels were measured by enzyme linked-immunosorbent assay. Results: A total of 263 volunteers, including 132 patients and 131 controls, who met the criteria were included in the study. Serum subfatin level of the patient group was significantly lower than the control group (p<0.001). When seizures in the past 30, 90, and 180 days were compared with serum subfatin levels, it was found that the serum subfatin levels of those who had seizures only in the past 180 days were statistically significantly lower than those who did not have seizures (p=0.005). Conclusion: Serum subfatin levels were significantly lower in patients with epilepsy. It was also significantly lower in patients with seizures in the last 6 months.
