Özet
Kıbrıs Adası, stratejik ve jeopolitik önemi nedeniyle tarihi antik çağdan günümüze kadar çeşitli uygarlık ve devletlerin pek çok mücadelesine sahne olan bir alan olmuştur. Kıbrıs Adası, İslam Halifesi Hz. Osman döneminde ve 1571'deki Osmanlı fethinden sonra bir refah ve barış dönemi yaşamıştır. Ancak 1878'de İngiltere'ye geçici statüde devredilen ada, Kıbrıslı Türkler açısından buhranlı dönemlerin başlangıcı olmuştur. İngiltere, Kıbrıs Adası'nı 1914'de tek taraflı ilhak etmesi ve Lozan Antlaşması sonrasında tamamen devralmasıyla, 1925 yılından itibaren Kıbrıs Türk halkı olumsuz gelişmeler yaşamıştır. 1960'tan 1974'e kadar ise, Rum Yönetimi ve EOKA üyeleri Türk halkına yönelik vahşi tedhiş eylemleri, Ada'daki Türk toplumunu zor durumda bırakmıştır. Bu eylemler, Kıbrıslı Türkler'i adadan uzaklaştırma girişimleri açısından da dikkat çekmektedir. Rumların Enosis hayali, EOKA militanlarının şiddet eylemleri ve Yunan Cuntası'nın Kıbrıs'a yönelik müdahaleleri, Kıbrıs Türklerini tehdit etmiş ve Türkiye'nin müdahalesine yol açmıştır. Bu nedenle garantör devlet olan Türkiye, 20 Temmuz 1974'te Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı'nı gerçekleştirmiştir. Bu çerçevede, barış harekâtının ulusal ve uluslararası basında yer aldığı gibi yerel basında da yansımaları görülmüştür. Bu çalışmanın ana odak noktasını oluşturan Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı'nın Elazığ yerel basınındaki etkilerinin detaylı bir analizi yapılmıştır. Türkiye tarihinde önemli bir dönüm noktası olan bu harekâtın toplumsal sonuçlarını anlamak ve dönemin siyasi ve sosyal atmosferine ışık tutmayı hedeflemek, çalışmanın temel amacını oluşturmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, barış harekâtının ulusal ve uluslararası basında yer aldığı gibi yerel basında da yansımaları görülmüştür. Bu çalışmada; Elazığ, Nurhak, Turan, Uluova ve Yeni Harput gazetelerinde Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı'nın Elazığ yerel basınındaki yansımaları ele alınmıştır. Çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi modeliyle yapılmıştır. Belirlenen gazetelerdeki Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtın görünüm ve sıklığı tespit edilirken, araştırma bulguları Elazığ yerel basınının Türkiye'nin iç ve dış politikalarıyla uyumlu bir yayın süreci izlediğini ve harekâtın süreçlerini geniş bir perspektifte sunarak halkın bilinçlenmesine ve ulusal çabaların yerel düzeyde paylaşılmasına önemli katkı sağladığını gösterdiği düşünülmektedir. Çalışmada yer alan bilgilerin konuyla ilgilenen araştırmacıların, eğitim camiasının ve konuyla ilgili kişilerin istifade edebileceği şekilde yazılmıştır.

Due to its strategic and geopolitical importance, the island of Cyprus has been the scene of many struggles of various civilisations and states from ancient times to the present day. Cyprus Island experienced a period of prosperity and peace during the reign of the Islamic Caliph Hz Osman and after the Ottoman conquest in 1571. However, the island, which was transferred to Britain in 1878 under temporary status, was the beginning of a period of turmoil for Turkish Cypriots. When Britain unilaterally annexed the island in 1914 and took over completely after the Treaty of Lausanne, the Turkish Cypriot people experienced negative developments from 1925 onwards. From 1960 to 1974, the Greek Cypriot Administration and the members of EOKA committed brutal acts of persecution against the Turkish people, leaving the Turkish community in the island in a difficult situation. These actions are also noteworthy in terms of their attempts to expel Turkish Cypriots from the island. The Enosis dream of the Greeks, the violent acts of EOKA militants and the interventions of the Greek Junta in Cyprus threatened the Turkish Cypriots and led to Turkey's intervention. Therefore, Turkey, as a guarantor state, carried out the Cyprus Peace Operation on 20 July 1974. In this framework, the peace operation has been reflected in the local press as well as in the national and international press. A detailed analysis of the effects of the Cyprus Peace Operation, which constitutes the main focus of this study, on the Elazığ local press has been made. The main purpose of the study is to understand the social consequences of this operation, which is an important turning point in the history of Turkey, and to shed light on the political and social atmosphere of the period. In this framework, the peace operation was covered in the national and international press, as well as its reflections in the local press. In this study, the reflections of the Cyprus Peace Operation in Elazığ, Nurhak, Turan, Uluova and Yeni Harput newspapers in Elazığ local press are discussed. The study was conducted with the document analysis model, one of the qualitative research methods. While determining the appearance and frequency of the Cyprus Peace Operation in the determined newspapers, it is thought that the findings of the study show that the Elazığ local press follows a publication process in line with Turkey's domestic and foreign policies and that it makes a significant contribution to raising public awareness and sharing national efforts at the local level by presenting the processes of the operation in a broad perspective. The information contained in the study is written in a way that researchers, the education community and people interested in the subject can benefit from.
