Özet

I. Cihan Harbi sonu ile başlayan ateşkes süreci ve Osmanlı Devleti'nin geleceğini masaya yatıran Paris Barış Konferansı süreçleri Yunanistan'a Megali İdea hedeflerini gerçekleştirme imkanı yaratmıştır. Yunanistan Başbakanı Eleftherios Venizelos, konferans sürecinde etkili faaliyetleri sonucunda Batı Anadolu'yu işgal etme hakkını elde etmiştir. Batı Anadolu'ya yayılan ve konferans hükümlerine aykırı hareketler barındıran işgallerden en fazla zarar gören şehirlerden biri Aydın olmuştur. Ancak burada Yunanistan'ın planları ve beklentileri içinde yer almayan, başlarında efe adındaki şahsiyetlerin bulunduğu zeybek gruplarıyla karşılaşmıştır. Bu gruplar var oldukları tarihi süreç içerisinde Osmanlı Devleti ile aralarında neredeyse hiç sıcak ilişki kurulmamış aksine devletin güvenlik güçlerini daima uğraştıran eşkıya grupları olarak karşılarına çıkmışlardır. Durumun bozulduğu yer ise işgaller karşısında halkın kendi kaderine sahip çıkması sonucu oluşan Milli Mücadele dönemi olmuştur. Bu gruplar Aydın'da Milli Mücadele'yi başlatmak isteyen insanların akıllarına gelen ilk unsurlardan olmuştu çünkü silah kullanmasına hakim, halka sözü geçen, cesaretli ve otoritesi yüksek insanlar olan efeler bu süreçte tam olarak kendilerine lazım olan kimselerdi. Savaş tarihi konuları, iki taraflı bir bakış açısıyla ele alınmadığı takdirde eksik yönlü değerlendirmelere neden olmaktadır. Bu nedenle çalışmada Yunanistan'ın Aydın bölgesini işgal etme nedenleri incelenmiş ve Aydın halkının hangi koşullar altında savunma gerçekleştirdiği tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Yapılan inceleme sonucunda, Yunanistan'ın işgal sürecine nasıl girdiği, işgal sırasında nasıl bir tutum sergilediği ve Aydın halkının, efelerin ve zeybeklerin vatanlarını hangi şartlar altında savunmak için mücadele verdikleri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca Milli Mücadele döneminin ardından Cumhuriyet döneminde zeybekliğin bir kültürel değer olarak geçirdiği dönüşümde ele alınmıştır. Bu bağlamda, söz konusu değişim süreci incelenerek Milli Mücadele sürecinin efeler üzerindeki etkisinin boyutu üzerinde durulmuştur.

The armistice process that began with the end of the First World War and the Paris Peace Conference processes that discussed the future of the Ottoman Empire created the opportunity for Greece to realize its Megali Idea goals. Greek Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos gained the right to occupy Western Anatolia as a result of his effective activities during the conference process. Aydın was one of the cities that suffered the most from the invasions that spread throughout Western Anatolia and that harbored actions contrary to the provisions of the conference. However, here he encountered zeybek groups, led by figures called efe, who did not take part in Greece's plans and expectations. These groups had almost no warm relations with the Ottoman Empire during the historical period of their existence; on the contrary, they appeared as bandit groups that were always challenging the security forces of the state. The situation deteriorated during the period of the War of Independence, when the people took control of their own destiny in the face of the occupations. These groups were among the first elements that came to the minds of the people who wanted to start the National Struggle in Aydın, because the efes, who were people who knew how to use weapons, had authority over the people, had courage and high authority, were exactly the people they needed in this process. War history issues cause incomplete evaluations if they are not handled from a bilateral perspective. For this reason, this study examines the reasons for Greece's occupation of the Aydın region and tries to determine the conditions under which the people of Aydın carried out their defense. As a result of the examination, it was tried to reveal how Greece entered the occupation process, what kind of attitude it displayed during the occupation, and under what conditions the people of Aydın, the efes and zeybeks struggled to defend their homeland. In addition, the transformation of zeybekism as a cultural value during the Republican regime after the period of the National Struggle is also discussed. In this context, by analyzing the process of change in question, the extent of the impact of the National Struggle on the efes is emphasized.
