Özet

Tekstil sektörü, istihdam ve ihracat gelirleri sağlayarak Türkiye ekonomisine önemli katkılarda bulunan sektörlerden biridir. Son yıllarda artan çevresel düzenlemeler, yeşil dönüşüm hedefleri ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma stratejileri özellikle yüksek çevresel etkiye sahip sektörlerden biri olan tekstil sektörünü yakından ilgilendirmektedir. Bu bağlamda, Türkiye'deki sürdürülebilirlik politikalarının Türkiye'de faaliyet gösteren tekstil firmalarının finansal performanslarını etkileyip etkilemediği araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada, Türkiye'de faaliyet gösteren halka açık 18 tekstil firmasının 2016-2022 yılları arasındaki verileri panel veri analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Yerli literatürde sürdürülebilirlik politikalarının tekstil firmalarının finansal performansına etkisinin istatistiki yöntemlerle ele alan bir çalışma mevcut değildir. Bu tezin bir diğer önemli katkısı, Türkiye bağlamında sürdürülebilirlik politikalarının tekstil firmalarının finansal performansına etkisini ampirik olarak inceleyen öncü çalışmalardan biri olmasıdır. Yerli literatürde bu özgün konunun panel veri yöntemiyle sistematik biçimde ele alınması, hem akademik hem de tekstil sektörü uygulayıcılarına yönelik değerli bir katkı sunmaktadır.

The textile sector is one of the sectors that makes significant contributions to the Turkish economy by providing employment and export revenues. Increasing environmental regulations, green transformation targets and sustainable development strategies in recent years are of particular close interest to the textile sector, which is one of the sectors with a high environmental impact. In this context, it has been investigated whether the sustainability policies in Turkey affect the financial performance of textile companies operating in Turkey. In the research, the data of 18 publicly traded textile companies operating in Turkey between 2016 and 2022 were analyzed by panel data analysis method. There is no study in the domestic literature that deals with the impact of sustainability policies on the financial performance of textile companies using statistical methods. Another important contribution of this thesis is that it is one of the leading studies that empirically examines the impact of sustainability policies on the financial performance of textile companies in the context of Turkey. The systematic treatment of this unique issue in the domestic literature with the panel data method offers a valuable contribution for both academic and textile industry practitioners.
