ABSTRACT Effects Of Electronic Banking To Globalization The definition of globalization, financial effects of globalization and the effects of electronic banking to globalization are the main parts of my thesis. In the first chapter, I defined globalization, historical development of globalization, regional integration (the opposite process of globalization). I also added examples of institutions that are constituted either in favor of globalization or regional integration. The financial liberalization and financial globalization are other subjects that are included in the first chapter. The second chapter includes financial system and banking industry. First of all, money, financial markets and financial system are mentioned. Then the development of banking is briefly explained. After that, international banking, its formation, progress and applications are declared. At the end of this chapter, a research about banking in Turkey in the 21st century prepared by Arthur Andersen is attached. The third chapter includes electronic banking tools. Technological improvements applied to banking, is the first subject of this chapter. ATM's, credit cards, smart cards, global payment systems and electronic commerce are explained in detail. Telephone banking, wap banking, internet banking also took place broadly in this chapter. I also added some application examples (from Turkey or the world) of those tools. The transactions between banks (international or national) are also mentioned. Data warehouse and data mining tools are the last subjects of this chapter. The fourth and last chapter includes the problems that are confronted in using electronic banking tools. The legal problems and application difficulties are described briefly. 1 179 /
