Özet
Sosyal değişimlerle birlikte terapide iki dilliliğin artmasıyla, psikanalitik bağlamda dilin rolünü araştırmak önem kazanmıştır. Lacanyen psikanalizde, öznenin kullandığı dil, kültür ve simgesel düzlemle derin bağlantısı olan Başka'nın dilidir. Diğer bir deyişle, öznenin düşünmek ve kendini ifade etmek için kullandığı dil Başka'ya aittir. Bu çerçevede, ikinci dilde terapi yapmak değerli bir araştırma alanı sunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, ikinci dili olan İngilizce'yi kullanarak hastalarla çalışan sekiz iki dilli psikanalitik/psikodinamik terapistin deneyimlerini incelemektedir. Amaç, terapistlerin, sonradan öğrendikleri bir dilde hastaları dinlerken ve onlarla etkileşim kurarken neler hissettiklerini ve düşündüklerini incelemektir. Ayrıca, bu iki dilli terapistlerin hastalarıyla olan ilişkilerinin dil kullanımıyla nasıl şekillendiği araştırılmıştır. Yorumlayıcı fenomenolojik analiz yöntemiyle dört üst tema ortaya çıkmıştır. Birinci ve ikinci üst temalar sırasıyla“Terapistlerin Yabancı Dil Tercihlerinin Temel Nedenleri”ve“Terapistlerin Anlama ve Anlaşılma Konusundaki Endişeleri”olarak adlandırılmıştır. Üçüncü üst tema“İkinci Dilde Terapi Yapmaya İlişkin Atıflar”dır ve bu temanın üç alt teması bulunmaktadır. Son üst tema ise“İkinci Dilin Terapistin Konumunu Yeniden Şekillendirmesi”olarak isimlendirilmiştir ve bu temanın da iki alt teması vardır. Bu bulgular, arzu, ego-ideal, L-şeması, direnç, analist ve histerik söylem gibi Lacanyen kavramlar çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışma, ikinci dilde terapi yapan terapistlerin deneyimlerine ışık tutmakta ve klinik uygulama için süpervizyon önerileri sunmaktadır.

With the rise of bilingualism in therapy due to social changes, exploring the role of language in psychoanalytic settings has gained importance. In Lacanian psychoanalysis, the subject's language is that of the Other, deeply connected to culture and the symbolic order. This means the language a subject uses to think and express her belongs to the Other. Within this framework, conducting therapy in a second language offers a valuable field of inquiry. This study investigates the experiences of eight bilingual psychoanalytic/psychodynamic therapists working in their second language, English, with patients. It aims to understand what therapists feel and think when listening to and engaging with patients in a language learned later in life. The study also explores how these bilingual therapists' relationships with their patients are shaped by language use. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, four superordinate themes emerged. The first and second superordinate themes were called“Underlying Answers of Therapists' Preference for Being in The Foreign Language”and“Therapists' Concern about Understanding and to Be Understood”respectively. The third superordinate theme was“Attributions to Conducting Therapy in Second Language”. This theme has three subordinate themes. The final superordinate theme was named as“Second Language Reshapes the Therapist's Position”. This superordinate theme also had two subordinate themes. These findings are discussed within the framework of Lacanian concepts such as desire, ego-ideal, L-schema, resistance, analyst, and hysteric discourse. This study sheds light on the experiences of therapists conducting therapy in a second language and offers supervision recommendations as clinical implications.
