Özet
Bu tez çalışması Soyut Dışavurumculuk akımının beraberinde getirdiği içsel ifade biçimlerini; bireysel bellek, bilinçaltı süreçler ve varoluşçu psikolojinin temelleri üzerinden analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın kuramsal çatısı, Sigmund Freud'un bilinçdışı çözümlemeleri ve Henri Bergson'un zaman ve bellek felsefesiyle desteklenmekle birlikte; temel odağını Rollo May'in varoluşçu yaratıcılık kuramı üzerine inşa etmektedir. May'in“Yaratma Cesareti”olarak tanımladığı, sanatçının dünyayla girdiği yoğun karşılaşma anı, bu çalışmada belleğin derinliklerindeki imgelerin dışa vurulmasını sağlayan ana itici güç olarak ele alınmıştır. Tezin temel problemi, yaşam boyu biriktirilen akademik, nesnel ve duyusal deneyimlerin, yaratım sürecinde Rollo May'in savunduğu“içsel yoğunluk”ile nasıl birleştiği ve bu birleşimin sanatsal izleklerini nasıl şekillendirdiğidir. Bu bağlamda bellek; geçmişin pasif bir arşivi değil, May'in“var olma çabası”olarak gördüğü yaratıcı eylemin hammaddesidir. Sanatçının resim yapma sürecinde sergilediği deneysellik ve o“an”ın getirdiği sezgisel tercihler, bellekteki hatıraların bilinçaltı düzeyden çıkıp plastik birer dile dönüşmesini sağlayan bir özgürleşme alanıdır. Uygulama aşamasında üretilen eserler dizisinde; bahar ve mor seri yer almaktadır; Bahar serisi imgesel çalışmaların ağırlıkta olduğu, çeşitli malzemelerle üretilmiş eserler olmakla birlikte mor serisi; mor, yeşil ve kırmızıdan oluşan triad palette oluşmuş, bu da varoluşçu sürecin ve bellek süzgecinin bir yansıması olarak kurgulanmıştır. Mor tonlarındaki figürler, modern insanın varlığı ve yabancılaşması olarak tanımladığı durumu temsil ederken; organik yeşil alanlar doğanın vahşi ve süreklilik gösteren varlığını sembolize etmektedir. Yüzeyi keskin bir biçimde bölen kırmızı hatlar ise, belleğin bazen sarsıcı olan hatırlama anlarını ve bireyin doğa içindeki varoluşsal yarılmasını vurgulayan plastik birer“müdahale”olarak işlev görmektedir Sonuç olarak bu çalışma; sanatsal pratiğin, sanatçının yaşamı boyunca deneyimlediği süreçlerin bir izdüşümü olduğunu ve yaratıcılığın, Rollo May'in vurguladığı üzere, bireyin kendi hakikatini belleğin derinliklerinden çekip çıkarma cesareti olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Soyut Dışavurumculuğun sunduğu teknik olanaklar, belleğin katmanlarıyla birleşerek,“an”ın getirdiği deneysellik üzerinden bir varoluş beyanına dönüşmüştür.

This thesis aims to analyze the internal modes of expression brought forth by the Abstract Expressionism movement through the lenses of individual memory, subconscious processes, and the foundations of existential psychology. While the theoretical framework is supported by Sigmund Freud's subconscious analyses and Henri Bergson's philosophy of time and memory, its primary focus is built upon Rollo May's existential theory of creativity. The intense moment of“encounter”between the artist and the world, defined by May as“The Courage to Create,”is treated in this study as the main driving force that enables the externalization of images residing in the depths of memory. The core problem of the thesis is how the academic, objective, and sensory experiences accumulated throughout a lifetime merge with the“inner intensity”advocated by Rollo May during the creative process, and how these fusion shapes artistic pathways. In this context, memory is viewed not as a passive archive of the past, but as the raw material of the creative act, which May regards as an“effort of being.”The experimentation exhibited by the artist during the painting process, along with the intuitive choices brought by the“moment,”provides a space of liberation that allows memories to emerge from the subconscious level and transform into a plastic language. In the series of works produced during the application phase, a triad palette consisting of purple, green, and red is constructed as a reflection of this existential process and the filter of memory. Figures in purple tones represent the state defined as the“existence and alienation of modern man,”while organic green areas symbolize the wild and persistent presence of nature. The sharp red lines that bisect the surface serve as plastic“interventions”emphasizing the jarring moments of recollection in memory and the existential rift of the individual within nature. In conclusion, this study reveals that artistic practice is a projection of the processes the artist has experienced throughout life, and that creativity (as emphasized by Rollo May) is the courage of the individual to pull their own truth out from the depths of memory. The technical possibilities offered by Abstract Expressionism, combined with the layers of memory, have transformed into a statement of existence through the experimentation brought by the“moment.”
